NWR but Teaching Related. Please help me teachers!!!!

So I want to look into the requirements for becoming a school librarian. Its something Ive always wanted to do and feel like its now or never. My question is what are the NYS requirements to do this? I've read different things depending on the state but cant seem to find any specific info for NYS.

Is it just a MLS that is needed or a Masters in teaching with a focus on library sciences?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I am a public librarian. You need to get your MLS with a school media specialist focus. You'll be required to do student teaching and take all of the state teaching exams before you graduate just like teachers.

Last year I went back for my MLS to become a school librarian. I am already a teacher so I just need to take the state test and get my MLS.

I am not sure what the requirements are for this but if you call your local boces and ask for the certification office they should be able to help you!!! Good luck!!
