DH and I are contemplating getting a dog, but we are unsure about which breed...
Anyone know of any small / medium size dog that is allowed to be carried on the plane in a bag and is also good with kids???
I have always thought that smaller dogs are more tempermental... Any opinions???
Thanks so much!!!

i dont know anything about animals and planes, but corgis are so sweet and very loyal. they make a great family pet! i do not believe though that there are any brees in which you can guarentee temperment, it really depends on the individual doggy! oh, and for children i wouldnt get tea cupt anything, bc you really can't be 'rough' with them bc they are fragile (not to mention they tend to have more health problems). good luck! ~lacey

Cairn Terrier! Like Toto! My Bailey is the sweetest boy in the whole world. He is the most loving and affectionate dog I have had and he likes to snuggle. If you are sitting down he has to be by your side.

maybe a Westie (West Highland White Terrier) or a Lhasa Apso. Both small to medium dogs. Good luck.
I second that!
I had a lhasa apso growing up and my best friend had a westie...They were both the absolute sweetest dogs in the world!

My mom has 2 (11 and 6 yrs old) and I just got one in November(Shes 4 months today!) She is the sweetest little thing alive. All she does is lay on my lap and lick my face. She is a mush. But this is what Cavaliers are known for. I guarantee you will fall in love with this puppy :) I will NEVER own another type of dog.

I had a westie until I moved in with DH (my FH back then) 2 1/2 yrs ago...she's was the family dog, so she stayed with my parents.
A year ago DH and I adopted a Lhasapoo from the humane society and he is the best (and cutest) dog ever.
I would highly encourage you to look into adopting a dog. I have a lot of allergies so it took us a while to find the right dog for us that doesn't shed, etc, but the wait was so worth it.
Here's a few pics of both dogs when they met for the first time this Christmas.
we ave miniature schnauzers that are very sweet and definatley have personaity! my fh hate small dogs and yet love these two. Also they are a non shedding breed so they are good for alergy sufferers and ou dont have to pick the hair off your clothes lol...If you are going the purebread route we got our fisrt mini schnauzer from suzies schnauzers and they were excellent to deal with...our second came from a schnauzer rescue group.
I love him!!!!!!! FH Aunt and Unlce have a Mastiff. He is HUGE!! but the biggest mush ever!! He drools alot and that kind of screeves me out. I don't think he is a English Mastiff! He is the same as Hooch ' Turner an Hooch movie'.

I THINK HOOCH WAS A DOGUE DE BORDEAUX (FRENCH MASTIFF). YOUR RIGHT, THEY ARE THE BIGGEST MUSHES. THEY THINK THEY ARE LAP DOGS. I'M TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH HER.

Re: NWR - Can anyone recommend a dog?
REPOST: I do dog training and consultation as a hobby... so I truly have a lot of experience with MANY breeds. Small dogs are only temperamental when their owners train them that way!!!
There is NOTHING in this world like a *** MALTESE *** ! They really are the sweetest, most clownish, and intuitive dogs EVER. All of the maltese that I have 'met' get along well with other dogs and even cats. (See my photo below of my maltese Snow White standing over my CAT Phantom.)
Of course there will be differences in personality among breeds but in general what sets malts apart is their adaptability, silly ways of showing off to please you, gentle but playful nature, and obviously that they don't shed.
As I've said before, my maltese goes potty on command (I have witnesses hehe) and does over 40 tricks including hokey pokey, R from L paw, wave goodbye, European kiss, etc. They are SO trainable if socialized correctly.
FM me ASAP if you want to see my dog's hokey pokey video, or have a ? about any toy breed. Pics of my Snowy are below!!!
