NWR Co-ops

We won't to start looking into buying one. Do we just go to a real estate agent. I have no clue what to do.

You can go to a RE agent or you can find some in the paper too. We were thinking co-op or condo also. So much time for that though...first comes the shoe-box sized apartment!

Oh no! Matt refuses to rent an apartment. We are going straight into a Co-op or condo.

Re: NWR Co-ops

you might want to consider condos first. co-ops are so annoying. you don't really own you just have shares. its annoying

Where are you looking? I have been looking at craigslist just to get an idea of what areas we might be able to afford (after the wedding).

Re: NWR Co-ops

We just bought a co-op and closed on it last month. Its a 2 bedroom and so far its been great. We started looking online at mlsli and emailed a few of the contacts on the listings and RA's got right back to us. FM me if you want the name of the agent we used , she was awesome. Also, where are looking to go??

Thanks, but that is a little to far. I really want to stay in Smithtown, Nesconset, Stony Brook, Lake Grove area.

Take a look on-line at either Foxtons.com or realtor.com. Also look in the Newsday on Sundays. We didn't use a real estate agent.

Re: NWR Co-ops

We just bought ours a few months ago. Definitely go with a RE - they do all the work for you and you don't pay them (they are paid their fees by the seller). Worth the time I saved IMO.

We found ours through craigslist.

Good luck!

I live in a condo in Nesconset and there are co-ops that are nice in Nesconset called Smithwood. You should look in the Real Estate section of Newsday on Fridays (especially) after the house section there is section for co-ops and condos. I also looked under yahoo real estate and it lists all condos and co-ops for sale. They just re-did the co-ops in Smthtown off of Route 111. My cousin almost bought one and I heard they are nice inside.

Go on mlsli.com and search for your price range. Then contact the realtor on that listing and they will be able to show you more in your price range.

If you need a mortgage I work for Countrywide Home Loans.

I live in a condo in Ronkonkoma on the four corners border of Smithtown, Nesconset, and Ronkonkoma (and I guess a forth, but I don't know what that is!). Ours are great--FM if you want info. We looked at the Sherbrooke on 111--they are very noisy (right ON 111) and they said homeless men lived in the laundry room in the past. It was important to me to have my own washer and dryer because I like doing laundry. There are always listings in the clubhouse of our complex. We found a realtor who called us first when ones went on the market, so we bought ours before it went to MLSLI.

Tanglewood is right next to Sherbrooke--both right on 111.

And I do like doing laundry! I hate going to the laundromat or laundry basement, but having it right here I love being able to wash whatever I want, whenever I want.
