Re: NWR-Does anyone know of an LPN program in Nassau?
I know Nassau Community offers a 2 year nursing program but I'm pretty sure that's for the RN.

Trust me - become an RN - more money and more flexibility on where you can work. Many hospitals are phasing out LPN's.

This is true. I teach a Medical Assistant Course and I can attest your best bet is to become either a Medical Assistant or an RN. They are fairly deep in the process of phasing out LPN's.
Medical Assistants are booming because they are cheaper than RN's to pay in a medical office. They also know all aspects of an office. They can do reception, billing, managing, as well as all clinical skills of an LPN(minus IV's). They can also work in hospitals doing EKG Tech, Patient Care Specialty, or Phlebotomy.
RN's are booming in the medical field because they can go into many specialty fields such as Midwifes, Forensic Nurses (CSI type work), Nurse Practioners, OB, Neonatal Care, Hematology, etc.
The medical field is a great field to get into. The demand for healthcare workers will never go away as long as people continue to get sick unfortunately. You just have to find the perfect fit for what are interested in doing.
HTH!! Good luck in your career search!!

Re: NWR-Does anyone know of an LPN program in Nassau?
Thank you for the responses. I agree too however, I have been going to NCC for awhile now and cant get into the program(very competitive)I work for an OB/GYN at the front desk and with an LPN I can make much more than Im making now and then continue school at a 4year which is easier to get into, but in the mean time I can still make better money. That's why Im looking for an LPN. Kind of a stepping stone for now. Also it's easier to get into a 2yr. if you already have your LPN I was told. Thanks again though. I appreciate you girls looking out for me.
