My full name is Urszula, and in latin it means 'little she bear'. My parents pulled my name out of a hat, cause my grandmother didn't like the name my mom wanted to name me.
Anyone else know what their name means, or how you were named?

I'm not sure if there is any real significane behind my first name. The rumor is that that aunts, uncles and my grandparents all had a say in it. There apparantly was a list on my grandparents refridgerator of potential names and anyone who would come over added to it. I'm so clearly the oldest grandchild, now there are so many grandchildren we have actually used the same name twice.

I don't know about the actual meaning, but in the Jewish Religion you name after the deceased.

My mom said she just always wanted to have a 'missy' so my name is Melissa (but hardly anyone calls me Melissa)

i was named after a woman that had really helped my dad out during some difficult times when he was younger...he had promised her that if he ever had a daughter he would name her Kamille...and he did...my name's Kamille...and i had looked up my name once and in arabic it means 'perfect'.

My first name Kimberly is just what my mom always wanted if she ever had a daughter. My middle name Ann is special. Before my mom got pregnant with me she lost a twin set of boys in her 7th month of pregnancy. She prayed to St. Ann that if she were ever blessed with a daughter she would name it after her and my mom also vowed to never cut her hair(besides regular trims of course). So out I came Kimberly Ann. She also named my sister Jennifer Ann and everyother girl in family has kept the tradition to 'keep their girls safe and protected'.
PS- Until my mom became sick with cancer and it fell out, she lived up to her promise and never cut her hair.

I was named after my Uncles 1st Wife (she was still married to him when I was born ) she introduced my parents
