NWR - Eyebrow shaping

I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get your eyebrows shaped. I heard it takes a few months to get them perfect, and I wanted to start now so they are perfect for the wedding. I have a place in the city, but don't feel like trucking in just for eyebrows....thanks.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

First off, where do you live? I work in Hicksville and there are a ton of threading places there. The lady I go to is great, and she had them right the first time I went there. I know there is a place in Port Jeff or Setauket if you are out here. I am not sure where it is though, one of the girls at my bank gets her eyebrows threaded there though. I live in Smithtown, but since I work in Hicksville and the lady is right next door I use her.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

I live in Huntington. Is that what everyone gets? Threading, what exactly is that? I heard so much about it, but don't know what it is. I grew up in Smithtown.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

The indians do it. They take a piece of thread, twist it and then shape your eyebrows by pulling the hairs with it. Honestly, it's a little more painful than waxing but with much better results. And there is no after effect like redness or pimples...which I used to get with waxing.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

JMO, threading for me was 100 times worse as far as redness & swelling than waxing ever was. I looked like I lost a heavyweight boxing match!!!!

I am having Jacqueline Nicole shape my eyebrows leading up to my big day.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

Is there a place in Suffolk? I'm interested because my eyebrows have a mind of it's own. My hairs grow straight out. It's the weirdest thing. Everywhere I go to get my eyebrows waxed comments on how strange my brows grow. How much does it cost???

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

OHmigosh, I live in Bayside. Okay the place is owned by Indians. They are on Bell Blvd and 38th street. They are right next door to an an
animal clinic. Honestly, all the ladies who do the threading are great. They are closed on Sundays.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

I go to Estee Lauder Spa in Manhasset Anetta is great!

Question - she tweezes (no wax) what's the difference between tweezing and threading? Is it better?

Kee, you said Huntington right?

I go to the Vincent Bruce Salon in Dix Hills. Kiki does my brows. My friend goes to the Red Door salon in the Walt Whitman mall and they do a great job also. You should check them out.

I go to NU IMAGE in Hicksville. It's right on Broadway (107) about a mile and a half south of the expressway.

Re: NWR - Eyebrow shaping

I used to wax my eyebrows but not anymore since I found a place to do the threading. I find it less painful and your skin won't get sagged in the long term as waxing can do.
Threading is the best thing to shape your eyebrows. It is not costly (about $5.00-$6.00) and they do it in less than 5 minutes. They shaped your eyebrows real good. Indian women usually do it because in their culture, they are usually very hairy and this last for two weeks or more.
I used to get irritated from the waxing but with this, not at all. And the eyebrows are contoured. There are usually all pretty good but some of them are even better than the others. And it is usually good that once you start with someone, you keep the same one because she knows the style you are after.
So far, I'm happy with the threading better than waxing or Plucking. You should never pluck your eyebrows though.
