Ahhh Newsies! Best non-cartoon Disney movie, EVER! Three words: Christian Bale singing!

Anyway, cartoon wise, it's a toss up between Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid. I remember when I was younger wanting to be like Ariel.

Little Mermaid.

Because I KNOW I've seen/read a version where the only way Ariel can get her voice back is to stab Eric, and she does.

It's a dark tale - I think it may have been the original and you know how Disney took those freaky deaky stories and turned them into appropriate tales for kids.

Actually Disney did had the stabbing part right, only that Eric did stab Ursula with his boat (at that point, Ariel already had her voice back but returned as a mermaid).

And Spot's hot too! It just the Jack's 'Santa Fe' part always gets me. I wanted to give him a hug!

Re: NWR: Favorite Disney Movie

it was Hans Christian Andersen - should have known that.

And yes, she was supposed to stab Eric but couldn't. Instead she jumped into the sea and turned into sea foam (died).

I was a twisted child.

I remember this!! I love that you knew that - I read all those stories so I guess I was twisted too... how bout the original 101 dalmations - there were three, Pongo, Missis, and Perdita... in the disney movie they only had two Pongo and perdita as husband and wife (dog) - I was so confused when I saw it.

Yeah I read the orginal story a couple of years after watching the Disney version (read it at 9, saw the movie at 7). It's sad.

Hey it's not as bad as Snow White in which her stepmom hired someone to kill her and bring her heart back to her so she can eat it.

Yeah some fairy tales are twisted!

I know! I miss Beauty and the Beast but would love to see how they pulled it off like they did with the Lion King and Tarzan.
