NWR: Fireworks freaking my pup out

Anyone else have a pup that is getting a bit freaked out from the fireworks???

She is circling and grunting lol

yeah, Mr. O'Malley shakes like crazy. he does the same thing with thunderstorms.. any storms for that matter. then again, i'm almost positive he was a Katrina dog :(

my dog isn't but hes bothered by MANY other sounds and things of that nature, i talked to my vet and i DONT reccomend anyone do this without speaking with their vet 1st but I give my puggie baby (liquid) benadryl, according to his weight on the back of the bottle, it doesn't make him completly out of it, but it helps with it..

It's late to do it now, but in future tell your vet that your dog gets really upset, and he or she can give you a 'doggie downer' or two. It's pretty common that pets freak out on the 4th. My cat was OK last year, but she was only a kitten. She's not very happy tonight, and I think it's made worse by the awful thunderstorm we had a few days ago. She didn't used to mind thunderstorms, but this one was so close I think our street was hit. Some were so loud we all jumped, and poor Agatha got very upset. She's very fluffy anyway, and she looked like a tribble after that.

My parents used to get pills from the vet for our dog on the 4th of July. They worked wonders. It doesn't really both my cats.

brutus is under the bed and i am seriously considering staying home tomorrow instead of going to a bbq bc i really dont want to leave him alone.

My poor littl doggy is going crazy. She is actually under my computer desk at my ankles. I hate 4th of July for this reason. My dog freaks out. I am going to have to put her in the Bedroom with the AC on high for the next few days so she can't hear it.

Awwwwwwwe, I feel so bad for all these little guys. I have 2 cocker spaniels and theres firecrackers going off like crazy right now and they don't react or do anything....but then a big truck drives by and they start going nuts, barking.....go figure!!!

I was just babysitting and the dog there was going nuts!!!!! He would cry inside, practically sitting on my lap and this was no small dog!!! Then he wanted to go outside, so I let him and he was barking up a storm at them!!

awww poor puppies... :( im sorry to hear that.. its so sad to see them this way...

FH is at work, and gretchen is protective to begin with and the fireworks only make it worse..

There is an over the counter liquid that you can give the pups... it is similiar to the vet presc. clamocalm....

I gave it to my hyperactive pit I used to have and he REFUSED to drink it lol

OMG where was this advice last week?!?!?!?!?! My parents were OOT and I was doggy sitting, well with the 3 thunderstorms and some early birds with their FWK's the dog went nuts. She ripped up the rug trying to get into my apt one night. I mean knocked down a gate, jumped it, came downstairs and dug a hole into the rug at my door!!!! I am a heavy sleeper, so I never knew she was there!!! Thank good ness my parents are home now. I put the AC on high and the TV on loud and she still freaked. I was told they can feel thunder, like a vibration!
