NWR: For girls who live in LI and work in Manhattan

Original post by Marianne13

Where in LI do you live and where do you work? I'm not asking for the name of your employer, but the area (for example, times square, wall street, etc.) And how long does it take you to commute door to door?

The reason I'm asking is because I live in Queens now but will be moving to LI once we buy a house. I look up the train schedules on the LIRR website but I'm just curious about how long commutes realistically take.

Thanks girls, this has been very helpful. We like the Babylon area and the towns on that train line but going west (Wantagh, Seaford).

Depending on how far from the LIRR you are, you are probably looking at about 50-60 minutes just to get into Penn. Plus then you have to get downtown, but the 1/2/3/E/A are all in Penn.

Good thing is the LIRR is much more relaxing. Get in, get a seat, close your eyes and take a nice nap. Much less aggita than the subway.

I live in Huntington and it takes about an hour and 20 min door to door to my office in Midtown. 10 ride to the trainstation, 1 hour trainride and 10 min walk to work.
