NWR: Girls w/IBS

NWR: Girls w/IBS

I know we got into a huge conversation last week about anxiety, and I'm sure some people here also suffer from IBS/Irritable Bowel. Anyhow, I've had it for years and I've tried everything from drugs to metamucil to no dairy, etc. Nothing helped. But I just bought that Activia Yogurt, and OMG, it changed my life. You have to try it. I wont get into any specific details but it really works!

I have this too but you are lucky because not only do I have IBS, I am also lactose intolerant. I tried activia and let's just say the results were not the same for me

sorry for crashing....If you can't have yogurt you can take acidophilus (sp?) pills. It works for me.

I tried that - and it didn't help me at all!!!!!

I'm so glad it worked for you!!!

I'm seeing a new gastro doc & he gave me a new med called Pamine Forte & as long as I eat 3 meals a day and take it 30 minutes before I eat - i'm okay...

It didn't work for me last night, but i hadn't eaten all day...

So - i'm not alone???????? I have IBS-D - HORRIFYINGLY bad..

Yes, for lactose intolerant ppl its not the best solution!

I have it awful, and I'm sure its exacerbated by stress and anxiety, but this seems to help! Maybe its psychosomatic though!

It's all those things, sometimes it's real, sometimes it's brought on by stress and sometimes you're just so scared you're going to have to go you convince yourself that you do. I hate it.

I wish it was psychosematic for me...i truly do. They sent me to therapy when I first got it - convinced i was doing it to myself...but NOPE.

I was on a medication way back when called Propulsid which has since been pulled because it killed people and gave them.....WAIT FOR IT....IBS...

The new doc tested me for Lactose Intoloerance....and i have to go through all the awful tests again..but the new med seems to be working.

I truly hope & dream of having good days. It's so bad for me that I could literally eat three pieces of popcorn and be in the bathroom for 30 minutes...

do you know if you go on the immodium website they have a bathroom locator? You can put in any zip code and it'll tell you where the closest public bathrooms are

Unfortunately - I recently developed an allergy to Immodium. I used to take 6 a day - mostly when on vacation and stuff like that - i never used it all the time...but the last 2 times - i have gotten very, very sick (puking, whole deal) from it... Doc says i have developed an allergy. I got VERY upset when he told me that..which is why i am going to a new gastro..

That blows, I'm sorry. But I was recommending to use the bathroom locator, not immodium. I can't imagine taking immodium almost everyday, I'm sure it's not good for you. My dr. put me on a prescription medication, I use it only when necessary because it makes me tired but it has really come in handy. Maybe your dr. can recommend something else. I can give you the name of mine if you need it, I love him.

What med are you on??? I'm on a new one that says it makes you tired, but it doesn't affect me. It's called Pamine Forte.

I just checked the bottle, it looks like it's called clidinium? It's a little green pill that kind of looks like prozac

------------------

Nope - that's not what i'm on...but it sounds promising! I'm sorry it makes you drowsy!

I've taken my Pamine a few days now - maybe 4 total and it worked 3 out of the 4 - so i'm HOPEFUL!!!

I totally know what you mean. Psychosematic/Stress totally does me in. I wonder if the Activia would help with Crohns?

Maybe I should try it. Probably can't hurt.
