NWR: Girls w/IBS

Original post by Toucan311

I know we got into a huge conversation last week about anxiety, and I'm sure some people here also suffer from IBS/Irritable Bowel. Anyhow, I've had it for years and I've tried everything from drugs to metamucil to no dairy, etc. Nothing helped. But I just bought that Activia Yogurt, and OMG, it changed my life. You have to try it. I wont get into any specific details but it really works!

i just want to say that i love this site more and more each day.
i think it's great that we are all sitting here talking about how we entertain ourselves while on the toilet.

LOL when Mima was a kitten she insisted on coming with me everywhere, and used to poop in her littler box while I was on the toilet! So cute. Mommy and kitty pooping together.

I have IBS as well and i recommend Bran Flakes with Yogury clusters over 10 grams of fiber
Changed my life!!!

Which way is your IBS though? For me - it's D(i can never spell it)... For that - bran only makes it worse... I tried that when I was first diagnosed...

nope, mine is the other way

If anyone is ever super constipated and is looking for a magic solution, just eat some honey mustard from Applebees. Works every time!

Interesting!!!

A friend of mine has it the other way - always constipated...i'm the other way. We argue regularly about which way is more frustrating!!!

I've always said i should buy stock in TP...

I can't tell you how much it means to me that i'm not alone - seriously. I don't know anyone with this problem, at work, in my circle of friends, FH's friends, family, NO ONE..

well now you've got all of us! what a fun club this is... lol

i'm lucky my FH actually has IBS too. and it's okay for me to talk about it, b/c it's a huge focus of his stand up act so it's not like it's a secret.

FH is a comedian?? I love him already that he uses it in standup!!! Where does he do any standup???

I always feel so bad leaving FH sitting at a table..

Have you all noticed too that they are using it in movies now???? The Ladykillers - the one guy had it...and one other movie i've seen recently - someone had it...

I tried that - and it didn't help me at all!!!!!

I'm so glad it worked for you!!!

I'm seeing a new gastro doc & he gave me a new med called Pamine Forte & as long as I eat 3 meals a day and take it 30 minutes before I eat - i'm okay...

It didn't work for me last night, but i hadn't eaten all day...

So - i'm not alone???????? I have IBS-D - HORRIFYINGLY bad..

My brother just found out that he has IBS about 3-4 months ago so he's just starting to understand it and get used to it.

His Dr. had him on Pamine Forte too, but I'm not sure how its worked for him..I'll ask him if you want me too...

Re: NWR: Girls w/IBS

Its sad and kinda scary but i was thinking about you Heather.

Yesterday we were in the supermarket doing our normal grocery stuff. We got to the yogurt and I almost bought the activia but paused. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that much for yogurt plus, being on WW I didn't know if I wanted to use 2 points every day since its such a small container.

Fast forward to today. My tummy is making really strange noises and totally bothering me right now :(

Now i'm reconsidering. How long did it take before you noticed a difference? Also do you eat it every day?

I know they have the 'challenge' that they'll refund your money if it doesn't work but i'm curious.

I have IBS and i've seen a difference with cutting out the food and drinks I know triggers it and by eating yogurt, not necessarily activa though. I bought some of that kind last week and I didnt like the texture of it.

Out of necessity I know where every easily accessable bathroom on Long Island is!

do you know if you go on the immodium website they have a bathroom locator? You can put in any zip code and it'll tell you where the closest public bathrooms are

Thats so great! I didnt know that!
