NWR: Good Books?

NWR: Good Books?

FH and I are going on a mini-vacation next month and I'd like to pick up a few books to read while we are away. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Nothing too heavy just some light, quick reading for the beach.

I just finished 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society' and it was so good.

I read American Wife on my last vacation. Sort of models Laura Bush's life....interesting.

For a good laugh, Straight Up and Dirty by Stephanie Klein is good.

I just Mitch Albom's new book 'Have a Little Faith' and that was really good. I love all of his books, I would look into those. All of the Shopaholic books are good by Sophie Kinsella!

Time Traveller's Wife is amazing. It's a little bit heavier than an easy beach read, but an amazing love story.

If you like The Hills, Lauren Conrad's LA Candy was actually entertaining!! definitely an easy beach read.

Re: NWR: Good Books?

I just started 'The Strain' by Guillermo Del Toro (Yes, the director of Pan's Labrinyth) and it's pretty good! It's described at Stephen King meets Anne Rice.

The Diamonds - by Ted Michael - like an actual HS drama book - hysterical!

Lovely Bones - if you want something deeper

Bumping into Geniuses - a very cool account of the history of the music industry

Anything Nicholas Sparks

Anything Sophie Kinsella

Eat, Pray, Love = THE BEST BOOK EVER

Anything Jodi Picoult, but usually a bit sad

Catcher in the Rye (RIP JD Salinger)

Any Chelsea Handler books - she's hysterical.

Hope this helps!

Re: NWR: Good Books?

I agree w/ any books written by Nicholas Sparks.

I am a HUGE fan of Augusten Burroughs (Running w/ Scissors) - the movie was horrible the book was okay - but his other books are amazing! A little on the deeper side - Sellivision was fiction and the rest are non-fiction.

I'm all about the Twilight series too - totally quick reads.

I Dream In Italian - I read that on the beach in Nags Head, NC a couple summers ago - it was a cute book.

Devil Wears Prada - on the older side, but again - a quick simple read.

Loveely Bones is a favorite of mine too - but again, a bit on the deeper side but its a quick read.

If you can tolerate it - I am in the middle of Jane Austin's 'Pride and Prejudice', yea totally a classic but the love story is really interesting.
