NWR: GPS Systems

my mom has a Tom Tom and CONSTANTLY calls me lost.

We have a Garmin Nuvi and I always say it was the BEST gift I've ever bought! We use it 3X a day at least!

We have a TomTom and it does pretty well. However, like someone else said, once it took us down a dead end and told us to keep going.... into the woods??

But you are supposed to plug it into your computer and upgrade the info once in a while, which we have not done since we got it. So I have a feeling that is the issue.

Otherwise it's definitely saved our life a few times !

that wasn't our issue, it was brand new, its not even a year old and its given FH non-existent directions several times

Another vote for Garmin Nuvi

If you don't want to hear the voice directing you, there's always the mute. But I like it and it even says the street names. I just got it for my bday because I will be moving to VA after the wedding and I don't wanna be calling FH (well, then it would be DH) asking 'How do I get the supermarket?, etc'

I also like how someone mentioned... it gives an ETA.

The maps are pretty good. It has a calculator and a few other extras.

Funny thing, this past time coming home from FH in VA I was on Amtrak and bored so I was playing with the GPS. The train was going 90mph and the car was driving on the rr tracks on the map

I love my Tom Tom, I got it at BJ's for around $100. FH used to have a Magellan and hated it.

I very often just use the thing on my iphone. :)
