NWR: GRRRR.

NWR: GRRRR.

I am SO DONE with school. I cannot wait for a break next week. I just had to read the riot act to my 5th & 6th grade orchestra about showing up late--half of the kids showed up 25 MINUTES LATE to rehearsal before school. One kid walked in 10 minutes before rehearsal ended, and he didn't come on stage at ALL because his cello broke. (News flash: his cello broke because he never opens the damned instrument and he never comes to lessons. Mommy will probably call me saying it's my fault somehow.) Even if your instrument is broken, you'll still be marked as present but late if you come on stage and do SOMETHING. But if you don't come on stage and you're supposedly 'looking for a cello' for 10 minutes, then sorry, you're getting marked as absent. Don't drop your damned kid off at school at 7:55 am for a 7:20 am rehearsal!!! I told all of the kids today that if they show up 35 minutes late to work in high school, college, or as adults and their lateness isn't due to weather or family emergency, you will be FIRED.

This is on top of family drama. . .let's just say that I have the most unsupportive family in the world right now.

I am ready to SCREAM, and the day has barely begun. UGH!!!!!!!

Yikes. Well hopefully your day can only get better from here!

Kids with instruments are 90% useless. I used to teach privately and it was so frustrating when they would show up late and completely unprepared. I kept explaining to them (and their families) that it was a waste of money and time (on all of our parts) for them to come like that ... but if a kid is not really into it, unfortunately that stuff is gonna happen. It's upsetting, for sure, but try not to let it upset you, because you will wind up making a difference to the kids who do really care about it - all 10% or so of them.

That's the reason why I never became a teacher- Parents' never own up to their kids' bullllshit and they always blamed it on me... I taught in Jericho at an after school program and this is WHEN I wanted to be a teacher. After a taste of dealing with those brats, I said F-U to the parents and bounced. LOL. Not fun. However, I do hope that you hang in there. I mean, teachers are a big part of a child's life. I just couldn't handle it. Sometimes, I wish I didn't give up. So, don't give up and do what you can do at your best!

Re: NWR: GRRRR.

Thank you for all of the encouragement. . .this has just been a GRRRR day so far. I don't understand why the parents place the blame on the teachers--wait, I do: because they don't want to own up to their own mistakes. So, they tell the kids to say to ME that it's MY fault for not giving them a calendar. . .when I went to each classroom and gave one to each orchestra student PERSONALLY last week. UGH.

The kid with the cello? Two months ago, instead of calling ME, she went above my head AND above the principal's head and called my direct administrator, the director of fine and performing arts for the district, and told him that I NEVER gave him a cello. BULL ****!!! And then I called her and said 'of course I did!!! It's number whatever, and it has been sitting on the cello rack for months. He never takes it home!' So I give it to him, and somehow in transit, the bridge goes 'missing.' So dad goes up to school (two days before a concert, mind you) screaming at the principal about me. Umm. . .IT'S YOUR KID'S DAMNED FAULT!!! That's why I kinda flipped out on the kid today when he walked in at 7:55 am with a broken cello. . .because it was becoming deja vu all over again!!!!!

Ugh. . .Friday can't come soon enough.
