NWR: Haunted Houses for Halloween

Original post by AS

I want to take my friends, FH and little nephew to a haunted house next month. I heard there are many on LI and I have been seeing an ad in the subways for the scariest haunted house in NY. Has anyone been to a haunted house? I heard the Westbury Gardens also host one?????

Headless Horseman Hayrides and Haunted Houses is located in Ulster Park, NY, part of the Historic Haunted Hudson Valley. The property incorporates over forty-five acres of naturally landscaped property that includes foreboding woods, surreal ponds, fruit orchards and more.

Our 'family oriented' attraction includes a one mile hayride, a labyrinth style corn maze, three professionally created haunted houses, three food concessions, as well as Ghoulish Gifts, Magic Moon Gifts, Scarewear and Witchy Woman gift shops, as well as the new Magic & Joke Shop.

Additional nightly entertainment includes The John Shaw Pandemonium Midnight Sideshow. John Shaw is back for his eighth year with Headless Horseman, and he has an all new freaky show in store for you. Come witness spectacular feats of human discipline and endurance along with miraculous magic & illusions all performed LIVE and in the RAW!! John Shaw performs four times nightly starting at 8PM, 9PM, 10PM & 11PM but please be aware that show times are subject to change without notice and this show is rated PG. John has been featured on such TV shows as The Howard Stern Show, Ripley's Believe It or Not, The New Tom Green Show, Jenny Jones, Ricki Lake, The Billboard Music Awards, Average Joe 4 on NBC & Evening Of The Strange in Paris, France. John Shaw performs on the main stage located next to the NEW MAGIC & JOKE SHOP. Come see why people call John 'not just another magician', as he corrupts the art of magic one show at a time!!! You can also visit him on the web at www.underworldent.com & on MySpace.

I always go to the haunted house in Wading River -- the Darkside Production house. its pretty good....i've gone like 2-3 years in a row. i think the haunted 'cemetery' you walk thru before you reach the actual house is even scarier than the house itself. ppl chase you with chainsaws. it scares the crap out of you!
