NWR: Help!

Original post by NicoleBell

Just needing to vent. Does anybody else have headache issues?? I get them alllll the time. I take Excedrin close to everyday. I dont know if its the weather (heat, humidity, alltergies) or tension or what, but its so frustrating! I've had blood work done and there's nothing wrong. They say some people just get them more than others. Anybody else deal with headaches, or have any remedies I could try other than Excedrin or pills???

Hahaha lack of coffee usually is the reason for my headaches! I worked at starbucks for four years it's withdrawal.

Re: NWR: Help!

Excedrine contains so much caffeine. which can help cure a headache but i also found this. that caffeine can cause this...
Rebound headache is a condition that develops from the overuse or misuse of any headache medication, including caffeine-containing medication. While caffeine-containing medications can be beneficial, these medications, combined with consuming too much caffeine (coffee, tea, soft drinks or chocolate) from other sources, may make you more vulnerable to getting rebound headaches.

Relief from rebound headaches can only be accomplished by completely quitting all medication; however, this should only be done under the supervision of a doctor

Maybe from taking excedrine so much your getting rebound headaches?

I thought it would be the complete opposite but, you're right, one of the ingredients in headache meds is caffeine. who would've thought?

I have migraines all the time and I have a prescription that I take. It takes a little while to actualyl work but when it does it completely takes it away. I call it my miracle pill cause I dont know what I would do without it!

Re: NWR: Help!

I dont think they're migraines b/c they're not only on one side or in one spot. It usually feels kinda like there's a really tight rubber band wrapped around my forehead, and sometimes the pain feels like it goes down into my neck too. I read in a book one time that that kinda pain is most characteristic of tension headaches.... but im really not even stressed about anything, its summer! haha.

But what's interesting is that I am a coffee drinker. I stop at Dunkin Donuts everyday before class or internship. but I've been done with school for a few weeks now so I havent been drinking as much coffee. I bet it is the caffeine withdrawal! Maybe I can try weening myself off of it. Coffee every other day in the summer???

Thanks for all the insight... you girls are great!

I get headaches all the time. I pop Excedrins like they're candy. FH always yells at me for this! Sometimes its caffeine related. I had an MRI with contrast just to make sure, and 3 doctors told me I have allergies and chronic sinusitis. You should def look into it.

hmmm that does sound like tension headaches, but you say you are not stressed.

Well when you do stop drinking caffeine your body does go into somewhat of a shock so that might be the problem

Re: NWR: Help!

I get migraines for the entire week right before Aunt Flo....it can be triggered by the change in hormone levels. I use Exedrin Migraine and it works pretty well, but only if I catch it really early. I can usually tell when I'm starting to get one.
