usually its first months rent and 1 moth security. If u have a realtor then there's probably another fee.

The realtor usually charges a percentage. sometimes it is one months rent, but sometimes it is more or less.
But then the person renting the apartment usually asks for one month rent and one month security. IMO, you are better off not going through a realtor if you can avoid it.

If you go through an agent there will be a brokerage fee

We went through a realtor for the apt we are in now. We had to give one month's rent, one month's security to the landlord and one month's rent as a broker fee to the realtor.

Under normal renting circumstances... you have to put down your 1st months rent and a month security. Some landlords want first and LAST month's rent and a month security.
When you add a broker into the picture... they usually either charge a month's rent... or sometimes they charge a percentage (like 10-15%).
So you could theoretically at worst have to pay first months rent, last months rent, a month security, and 15% broker fee! On a rental thats $1000 a month... thats $4500 you have to put down at signing!

Let me just add that when I say a broker charges a percentage.... thats a perentage of a YEAR'S worth of rent. Not a percentage of the month.
For instance.... 15% of rent thats $1000 a month will run you a broker fee of $1800 !!!

Ok, so I looked at the apartment. It is by far absolutely beautiful!!! The broker is charging one months rent... I'm going to pay for it, because the apartment is inexpensive and just beautiful!!!! I'm probably going to sign tomorrow!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! This is so exciting!
