NWR: I Adopted A Soldier!

NWR: I Adopted A Soldier!

So, I filled out an application to adopt a soldier and today I got my phone call that I was approved!

So in a few days I'm going to get all the information on my soldier, where he's on tour, his needs, his birthday....etc.

Once I receive my paperwork I have committed myself for 'my' soldier's entire tour. I promised to send a letter/card every week and a care package at least once a month.

I'm really, really, really excited to find out about my soldier and send him things that will make him more comfortable!

We'll see how it goes, but I think I'll probably adopt another once I get the gist of supporting one!!

I plan to send calling cards and home baked goods and everything else he/she could want!!

I can't wait!!

That's such a cool idea!! They have a much LARGER program called Adopt A Platoon....I don't know if you'd be able to get the entire school involved....But you could always have your homeroom adopt a few soldiers or just one WELL taken care of soldier

The website is.....

http://www.adoptaplatoon.org/new/

They provide all the shipping supplies also!
It's a really nice idea

Let me know how it all works out!

Re: NWR: I Adopted A Soldier!

I checked my email a few moments ago....and my soldiers name is Steven he is 19 and from Rhode Island stationed in Baghdad....he comes from a poor family and sends most of his money home to his mom and sister:( He has limited access to the internet, so I'm going to email him tomorrow and start shopping for some of his favorite snacks!

that is really great! I would love to do that also. I was listening to Howard Stern and one of the guys on the show went to Afganastan to do a comedy show and he said that the guys over there want those juice boxes. Does anyone know where you can just drop off cases of stuff ike that?
