NWR- i had a kinda scary morning and wanted to know if anyone has an info about this (sorry its long) ****UPDATED***
Original post by ILOVEBRIAN2008
so today fh and i went to visit his mom in the hospital (she had surgery but is fine) and all of a sudden i started to get really hot and dizzy...then i start to black out and next thing i know everyone is around me 'saying omg are u ok?!?!?!' this isnt the first time ive passed out, and i kinda knew it was coming when i started to get hot and dizzy but we were in a hospital room with his mom, dad and grandparents and his grandpa was sitting in the seat and i wasnt about to be like 'omg i need to sit' i didnt want them to know what was going on so i just leaned against the window ledge and hoped the feeling went away..well it didnt and i passed out (not to mention my back is scraped up from when i fell- so that hurts)
i get this feeling probably 2-3 times a year but usually like 2 of the times im somewhere where i can sit down and if i can sit usually i can get the feeling to pass...i went to the doctor once like 2 years ago and they gave me a few tests and blood tests and all he found is that my cholestrol is a little high..and sometimes my blood presure is a little low
whats scary about this time is that FH and his family think it was a seizure bc i was shaking, my eyes were open, and i made a few sounds before i 'woke up'
the nurse told me i should get checked out at the ER but if i was feeling ok now i can just call my doctor (and sadly to say i left bc i have school work that i have to do tonight, and so does fh and i didnt want to spend all day there) so im gonna call the doctor tomorrow
does anyone experience anything like this? know anything about it? fhs family said that i should maybe ask my doctor for a referal to the neurologist
im feeling ok now just a little weak and my head hurts a little but im attempting to read a thousand pages for my grad paper thats due tomorrow..i just wanted to see if any of u girls know anything about this TIA
************* UPDATE**************************
ok so i went to my doctor today he said its prob that vago something or other but i had extremely low blood pressure today butttttt then the nurse hooked me to an echocardiogram thing and after she did it quick and printed that paper out was like 'thats weird' and she checked me to make sure everything was on correctly...left the room to talk to the doctor, came back and was like 'you need to go to a cardiologist' i was like what did that test show??? and shes like its ok, im like umm but what did it say? and shes like u have a VERY low heart beat...awesome...oh and i read the paper (bc they game it to me to hive the heart guy thats next door) and it says that i shower multiple atrial premature complexes, short r-r complexes..and i have no clue what any of this means lol but obviously its not that great...i have an appointment with the cardiologist in a week and a hlaf so hopefully ill know more then...weirdly enough im not actually worried, im just hoping its nothing toooo bad..anyways thanks again girls for all the info u guys gave me yesterday!!

its didnt feel like a panic attack did it?
nope..the last time i passed out i thought it could have been that bc it was really crowded...but this time we were just in the hospital room talking and it happened (and hospitals dont scary me, i was actually a candy striper for 4 years and volunteered at a hospital)

bananas are really good! or sodium...your body needs both things and I am pretty sure they are directly related to the way your heart functions... something related to the sodium-potassium pump...

do you work out? My bro was just diagnosed with an atheletes heart which means because he works out so much, he has an abnormally low heart rate. He passed out last week from this and fracture his skull.
thank goodness you where ok!
lol i SHOULD work out but no i dont...but it could be linked to my heart bc my heart doesnt beat normally (i swear i have all these issues tho im always told that im fine) but almost everytime i go to the doctors they listen to my heart, give some sort of weird face, and then hook me up to an ekg and tell me everythings fine LOL
Jenise I am so sorry this happned to you. There is a girl I work with who passes out often ( not sure if it is seizure like) but she is actually now going to a cardiologist bc they think it could be related to her heart ( i hope that doesnt freak you out). Anyway, they havent found anything yet, but I know they monitored her for a couple of days and she is waiting to hear back from them..I can def talk to her and see if she experiences what you did. Def go talk to a doctor though just so you wont worry as much.
And I hope Brian's mom is ok..tell him I sid hi.

I think it sounds like anxiety. Once this happened to me in a doctors office. I would go into the details if you need, but basically after heart tests and neurological tests, I just need to take a xanax if I feel it come on.
Also, I feel like I am hot.. tingly...and my eyes feel funny.
Only with some anxiety attacks do I faint. It happens because your blood pressure lowers and heart rate rises. Odd.

Now i wont say i suggest this but one thing i do is drink redbull, im addicted and ppl always ask if i get real jittery or energized and i really dont at all, i say i have low blood pressure and honestly it balances me...there was one time i was out shopping with Fh for hours and this is when it happens to me ALOT, being around those bright lights and just the crowd and non stop walking makes me get dizzy and light headed and one time I went to sit and i told FH to run and get me redbull lol.
Hmmf... yeah I should carry some around with me... It never fails... I always get that same way in any crowded stores or walkin through malls... It really *****

It's definitely not normal to pass out, so you should call your doctor and explain what your family observed. If you don't get any answers, I would see a cardiologist and neurologist. Maybe even get your eyes checked...I used to get dizzy all the time. It wound up that I needed glasses, and now I'm fine. Although, from what your family observed, I don't think it's that.

Student nurse here! theres a few ?'s the doc will most likely ask... 1 had you eaten?? its very possible it could be low blood sugar. Also not to sound silly but the other times it has happend what kind of situation was it? where were you?... its very common that your get that type of feeling and 'black out' when you see some one you love in the hospital or sick in pain... (i know this from personal experience) for ex: my brothers firend was getting a piercing and i was watching next thing i know OUT COLD... no blood nothing just freaked out.. a second time my dad was in the hospital and next thing i knew i got that cold sweat/dizzy feeling and i passed out.. its just very common.. i see it in the office all the time with parents watching their kids get shots they pass out not the kids..haha so take a look at all the situations. but DEF need to see the doctor especially if it is some type of seizure disorder you could get some meds and prevent the whole situation. let me know if you need a good doc. were open 7 days a week 365 days a year so just let me know i hope this helps!
you may want to look into getting a glucose monitor their inexpensive just to keep an eye on your sugars.

I have had problems too. My heart beats irregularly, and often quickly. I have been seeing more and more black spots lately. I have been to countless doctors. Next, I need to see a cardiologist. I have in the past, but no one has found anything. Really frustrating! Doctors don't find anything, but i am sure something is wrong!
It sounds like it might be a good idea for you to see a cardiologist too. Maybe get an echocardiogram. I wish you the best of luck. If I find a doctor I can recommend, I will let you know. In the meantime, all I have found are doctors that do routine tests, and they don't check further.

Jenise I was going to say this same thing. I have low blood pressure and I am a boredline hypoglycemic - low blood sugar, opposite of diabetes. The combination can make me very dizzy and I get the hot feeling too. Also, there is a vein in your stomach that carried blood to your brain, I think it's the vaso-vegal vein or something like that, and mine often 'closes up' - it's called vaso-vegal syncope, I think ... and it can cause you to faint. Definitely see a dr and ask about all of these things... but honestly, it sounds like low blood pressure and/or low blood sugar to me. I;ve lived with this all my life and what you described sounds just like me!!!

that is scary! a couple of years ago i was sitting outside with a girlfriend of mine and as we were getting up to leave she kind of passed out and started shaking, her eyes rolled back, and a minute later she was fine. she felt dizzy. to this day i dont really know what it was. she was fine after about 10 minutes. it really looked like she was having a seizure so i was freaking out. it hasn't happened to her since, so that's a good sign.
