NWR- i had a kinda scary morning and wanted to know if anyone has an info about this (sorry its long) ****UPDATED***

Original post by ILOVEBRIAN2008

so today fh and i went to visit his mom in the hospital (she had surgery but is fine) and all of a sudden i started to get really hot and dizzy...then i start to black out and next thing i know everyone is around me 'saying omg are u ok?!?!?!' this isnt the first time ive passed out, and i kinda knew it was coming when i started to get hot and dizzy but we were in a hospital room with his mom, dad and grandparents and his grandpa was sitting in the seat and i wasnt about to be like 'omg i need to sit' i didnt want them to know what was going on so i just leaned against the window ledge and hoped the feeling went away..well it didnt and i passed out (not to mention my back is scraped up from when i fell- so that hurts)

i get this feeling probably 2-3 times a year but usually like 2 of the times im somewhere where i can sit down and if i can sit usually i can get the feeling to pass...i went to the doctor once like 2 years ago and they gave me a few tests and blood tests and all he found is that my cholestrol is a little high..and sometimes my blood presure is a little low

whats scary about this time is that FH and his family think it was a seizure bc i was shaking, my eyes were open, and i made a few sounds before i 'woke up'

the nurse told me i should get checked out at the ER but if i was feeling ok now i can just call my doctor (and sadly to say i left bc i have school work that i have to do tonight, and so does fh and i didnt want to spend all day there) so im gonna call the doctor tomorrow

does anyone experience anything like this? know anything about it? fhs family said that i should maybe ask my doctor for a referal to the neurologist

im feeling ok now just a little weak and my head hurts a little but im attempting to read a thousand pages for my grad paper thats due tomorrow..i just wanted to see if any of u girls know anything about this TIA

************* UPDATE**************************

ok so i went to my doctor today he said its prob that vago something or other but i had extremely low blood pressure today butttttt then the nurse hooked me to an echocardiogram thing and after she did it quick and printed that paper out was like 'thats weird' and she checked me to make sure everything was on correctly...left the room to talk to the doctor, came back and was like 'you need to go to a cardiologist' i was like what did that test show??? and shes like its ok, im like umm but what did it say? and shes like u have a VERY low heart beat...awesome...oh and i read the paper (bc they game it to me to hive the heart guy thats next door) and it says that i shower multiple atrial premature complexes, short r-r complexes..and i have no clue what any of this means lol but obviously its not that great...i have an appointment with the cardiologist in a week and a hlaf so hopefully ill know more then...weirdly enough im not actually worried, im just hoping its nothing toooo bad..anyways thanks again girls for all the info u guys gave me yesterday!!

Jenise,
Your mom is in the hospital. Could this be a stress related anxiety disorder? Does this usually happen when you are under some sort of stressful situation?

Student nurse here! theres a few ?'s the doc will most likely ask... 1 had you eaten?? its very possible it could be low blood sugar. Also not to sound silly but the other times it has happend what kind of situation was it? where were you?... its very common that your get that type of feeling and 'black out' when you see some one you love in the hospital or sick in pain... (i know this from personal experience) for ex: my brothers firend was getting a piercing and i was watching next thing i know OUT COLD... no blood nothing just freaked out.. a second time my dad was in the hospital and next thing i knew i got that cold sweat/dizzy feeling and i passed out.. its just very common.. i see it in the office all the time with parents watching their kids get shots they pass out not the kids..haha so take a look at all the situations. but DEF need to see the doctor especially if it is some type of seizure disorder you could get some meds and prevent the whole situation. let me know if you need a good doc. were open 7 days a week 365 days a year so just let me know i hope this helps!

you may want to look into getting a glucose monitor their inexpensive just to keep an eye on your sugars.

i ate like 2hrs before then and prob the most sugary thing u could eat (i had pop tarts this morning- its all i had left in my apt! lol) the last time ipassed out they checked me and said my blood sugar was fine..but can one day it be fine and the next day , not?...i was in a hospital when it happened but the person i was visiting (FMIL) looked really good and we were just around chatting..but that is a possibility also haha..but anyways im def gonna get it checked out and thanks for the info!!!!

yes absolutly your sugar can be fine one day and not the next thats VERY common...also sounds like your sugar crashed... pop-tarts are a great source of sugar but simple sugars which gives you a quick high and a HUGE CRASH so your up and then out of no where its WAY LOW so it sounds to me like your sugar took a huge crash...complex sugars keep you more balanced.. i would def. recommen a glucose monitor and keep a record for a few weeks to just see... it should be between 60-100 before eating and NO more then like 200 after eating... i hope this helps.. you can go to the doctors and they can do a 3 month glucose test called a hemoglobin A1C which takes a average of your sugars for 3 months they noramlly do that for diabetics but it would give them a good indication of what you are noramlly... i hope this helps FM me if you want.

the shaking part and eyes open definately sound like symptoms of a seizure..i would definately go to a doctor to be safe...it could also be low blood sugar..i know that when your sugar is low you can feel dizzy and weak! but you should never shake i don't think because of it..

I don't know if its the same thing, but since I was about 8 years old I would pass out if I was standing in one place not moving for a while. It happens to me once or twice a year. After years of tests one cardioloigst I went to told me that I had vaso vaygal sydrome (dont know if its spelled right I just wrote it the way it sounds). Basically if I stand too long my heart doesnt properly pump the blood up from my feet back to my head so I pass out. (kind of tied to the low blood pressure but not the same thing). Since it didn't happen often enough he didnt put my on medication but just told me to sit if i felt it coming on b/c i always feel it before it happens. Also he told me to eat more salt to keep my blood pressure a little higher. As I've gotten older it happens maybe once a year or less but I feel like its going to happen more than that and then I walk around, or sit and move my feet and eat something salty and usually it goes away. It might be something totally different but might be worth seeing a cardiologist for. Hope this helps!

So it seems like what I was going to say a few other girls thought as well...

Though Ive been lucky enough to never pass out... I know how you feel...
It was so scary and an everyday thing for me... I finally got to the doctor and turns out I have panic disorder...
So maybe it was a panic attack...
You may be under alot of stress that you dont even realize you are under... I would go to the DR ASAP.. No if ands or buts about it....
The 'seizure' type thing, throws me off... But you never know... Def get checked out and let us know what happens... Make sure you put your foot down though, dont let them talk down to you or look at you like you are crazy... Good luck!! And feel better!!!!

lol thats kinda what happened the last time i went...they tested me for a few things, gave me a blood test and was like your fine. Thankfully i actually have a different doctor now so hopefully ill get a better result this time, and im def gonna insist upon it bc although it doesnt happen often it would make me feel much better if i knew what it was or control it...those of u who have been through it im sure know that its really embaressing to pass out...and im the iddiot who in my head when i know its gonna happen thinks- maybe itll pass, so i dont say anything not wanting people to get all worried haha..but i dunno if it was a seizure thing or what bc to me it felt exactly the same as other times that i have passed out, but fh said i was shaking and the last time he saw me pass out he didnt think i did that so who knows..but thanks!

a girl i work with used to pass out randomly...i forgot what she said she had...but she had to get a tilt test done or something...she got strapped to a table and they kept titlting it until she passed out. whatever condition it is...she just needs to have gtorade and like saltines (cuz of the salt) with her so if she starts feeling dizzy she takes that and it goes away.

It is called the tilt table test. Like I said, when the same thing happened to me last year they did all those test, even like to one the above poster's friend had.

Turns out I had a panic attack.

I also had a 'seizure' too. That is why they did all the tests to find now I have anxiety disorder.

actually, they tilt it all the way up and just leave you in a standing position.
(if you get that woozy feeling if you sit up or stand up too quick, as well as fainting, this is a good test to have done. it's not scary at all.)
