cold turkey, one week ago today! FH said I should treat myself to something really nice like a new pair of jeans. So I just ordered myself a new pair of Sevens off their site!
Can I quit every week???
Seriously - not as hard as I thought it would be but its only been a week so far so lets keep our fingers crossed. I read a book by Alan Carr, 'The Easy Way to Quit Smoking' and it seems to have worked for now and hopefully for GOOD! I recommend it for anyone who wants to quit or wants a loved one to quit! You can get it at Barnes and Noble.

Thats the book I read when I quit over 2 yrs ago. It is the best thing in the world to not smoke but I gained 20 lbs. Just started getting it off now. Good Luck

Thanks guys! I am starting to reach that point where I can handle the little cravings b.c I know they will pass.
Oh by the way, let's hope I don't gain too much weight before those freaking jeans arrive. Could you imagine? I would be soooo upset!

I quit last June and I used several books to quit. It was the best thing I ever did! Now I'm at the point where it's totally unapealling to me! Keep it up, I know how hard it is!

Awesome! I need to quit But I am going to do it on the honeymoon because as long as I am in hot weather I actually can't stand smoking...so I must not be that addicted right??

congrats!!!! I think for every week you dont smoke you should treat yourself...maybe seven jeans will get to be expensive every week but like makeup or shoes or something like that...even a massage

I quit last year and I also gained some weight; in my case it wasn't so bad because i went from a chain smoking waif to a normal, healthy body.
Quitting is the best gift you can give to yourself and FH! You are adding so many years onto your life AND you'll be able to smell your shampoo on your hair at the end of the day!

Good for you! and FYI - I just saw in the Pennysaver that North Shore University Hospital in Glen Cove is having a group hypnosis session next Monday the 23rd to help people quit! I can FM the info if you want.

I realize this is an old thread but congrats!
A friend of mine recently quit smoking and as part of her motivation she would take the money she would typically spend on ciggs and put half in the bank, and half in her 'Louis Vuitton' fund.
It worked! it's also a great way to save money -- you dont realize how much you are wasting until you quit.
