NWR I was just trying to be helpful...

NWR I was just trying to be helpful...

some of you know my FH owns a mortgage company

so I was on the Home board and I posted on a thread about home prices- what I know from my FH that most of the prices are a little over inflated and that we are waiting yada yada yada, according to him now is not the time to buy etc. ( I said in the begining where I am getting my info from)

I was really just trying to help- I wanted to make people feel better for waiting- but didn't mean any offense to those who have bought a home already-

needless to say I got an earful b/c what I wrote is offensive to those who bought and are happy- (I don't really see how??)

sorry I just needed to vent-

it's not like I am talking out of my Butt- besides you can still find a good deal-

Obviously they are oversensative about their recent purchase. Maybe they are having buyer's remorse and they are taking it out on you.

Don't let them get to you.

What are you doing wandering of the 06 board by yourself anyway!!

aw Beth I'm sorry. I guess it comes down to nobody wanting to feel like they got ripped off...even though financial people are constantly talking about the potential for a 'bubble'

I would value your inside knowledge!

FH and I are buying a house now, but WAY out east (so not as inflated as some other parts of LI!) There has been talk for years about the LI 'Housing Bubble' bursting and prices dropping (or at least stabilizing) - I'm just hoping that it doesn't happen right after FH and I close on our house

some one defended me- I feel better

I guess she was alittle over senstive

well now you all know - straight from the mortage bankers mouth

I am sticking to the 06 board ( even though I am a 05er)

thanks guys!

i know i started that thread in frustration of the prices of everything and worrying if it is the right time to buy or not. i dont want to wait because well 1-i dont want to live with my fils and 2-because we want a place of our own.

i did not take offence of what you said at all. you were nice about what my first statment was. i was just unsettled about what the person after me said. she seems to chime in her opinion on every question i have on that board.

I just read the thread, and the response you got from that particular person was uncalled for.

You stated your opinion and it was unconfrontational in the least.

You were speaking about your experience and your reasons, and not to the 'general public'

Your FH is right about waiting, because my FH's friend's dad is a real estate agent and he told us to wait little while.

Hmm, well you know what? I was thrilled to read what you wrote. To make a long story short, me and FH were thinking about buying a house and it's both of our dream. But with the prices as high as they are now, we have no choice but to wait. We wrote down all the expenses that would be involved and there's just no way. So, we're gonna rent for a while and start looking again in about a year. Hopefully, by then, we'll have saved enough or prices will have gone down or both!

i just read what you wrote and what her response was and she was way over the line. sounded like she was trying to convince herself she was happy....

don't listen to them. you knew what you were saying.

Don't worry about it, Beth! I'm sorry you were attacked for trying to help. I read the thread and I don't see what was so offensive. People need to chill out!!!!!!!

I just wanted to make you feel alittle better about waiting- if that is what you decide to do

you could always rent for a year- see if you like the neighborhood?

if we found a good deal - we would be TODAY but so far nothing!

you did make me feel better it was not you that i didnt like the responce from it was someone else on the thread.

i agree with you in waiting. i really dont want to rent. I would rather save the money and live with fil. but if we could buy a co-op we could do this with no problem now. im just afraid because we were only planning on being there for 4-5 years that it wouldnt be worth the price we were going to get it for by then and lose out.

thanks for all of your imput it is really helpful when someone who actually has some knowledge speaks up properly.

You know what I think? I think we all need a weekend away from LIW. There's a lot of tension here lately, and I think a weekend could do us all some good. Yay weekends!

I wouldn't take it personally, Beth.

I seriously would not take offense to what was responded to your post. Being a recent home buyer, we had reasons why we bought now & I strongly believe that after looking for over a year, we got a great deal.

FH & I bought a house that is 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths & is completely redone...

Everyone buys at different times bc it is what suits you...You have some inside information & that is great...Don't let anyone get you down your decision, I think it is a great one! If we didn't find our house, we would have been waiting too!

Re: NWR I was just trying to be helpful...

thanks

just in general, they say you should be prepared to live in a home at least 5 years before you plan on selling-
mainly to recoup closing costs etc. so you might be ok

this is a tough descesion to make- but keep looking you might find something that is priced right - were you could make money when you sell it-

Re: NWR I was just trying to be helpful...

Beth: I wouldnt stress about the Home Board thing. I once asked a question on that board and felt that a couple of people (similar to your friends) were quick to dismiss my 'first time home buying stupid question' instead of just being helpful....

I've seen similar posts to yours on that board and it doesn't really get anywhere.

Anywho.... I def. think houses are going to adjust to more correct amounts in the next few years but I am also looking in an area outside of LI. But from my view, they aren't going up AS MUCH as they did and houses are sitting a while longer. Even in my town on LI I am seeing houses sit longer than what I am used to.

I think you are making a wise choice and you have every right to say what you want - esp. cause it wasn't hurtful directly.

Beth-although I agree with you 100%...I think our best bet is to stick to our own '06 Board these days
