NWR: Insane realization...

Original post by KroertGS

Governor Cuomo's salary is around $179k....the superintendent's salary at my school is $242k. Why does this not seem right???

Faye, you are entitled to your opinion, but plse do not insult the brides who have been on this board since it started especially people who are passionate about their jobs. these are girls I call friends and respect and a lack of respect is not needed.

Side note if we stop answering her non sense then hopefully she will stop.

It's so sad because I was a teacher in NYC and got laid off and then I started working for the courts and there were layoffs twice since I've been there (I've only been working there for 1 year). No one ever thinks to cut the superintendents salaries to save jobs! Also, working in the courts people blame teachers for having such high salaries and summers off blah blah blah!

What court did you work in? What did you do? I scored my dream job in court and got laid off seven months later! Waiting for things to get better...

District Court in CI...I just survived 2 layoffs. So many good people that have been working there for years are getting laid off. I'm hoping things get better, too. It's so terrible!

I went to school to be a teacher...got my bachelor's and master's degree and had to go into another field because there are so few teaching jobs. I still have to pay off my student loans even though I'm not teaching. I know I'm not the only person out there going through this, but I still give teachers sooo much credit. I always tell people that when I was teaching I never had one summer off and my job did not end at 3 when the kids got out. Teachers have an endless day.

Education is NOT a business. Businesses get a return on money spent. The return is academia not finances

Stop ripping on teachers when you wont even share what you do. FH assumes fromm your commebts that you are either unemployed or failed one of the 4 tests to be a teacher.

I chose my profession, heartstrings attached, and i would choose it over and over again. You had the right to choose yours too. I would never sh*t on someone for doing what makes them happy. I feel sorry for people who havent found their path and have to crap on othrs to feel better.

No one on here cried about their salary or their responsiblilities. We defended ourselves. Theres a difference. I dont even care what everyones job is. I dont care if you are the president or bag groceries at stop and shop. If you work and pay taxes and worry about your own living finances you receive a check in my book. Salary was never a deciding factor for occupation for me. If thats a concern in lifem then i feel sorry

Finland hs the best ed system right now. They are a homogenouus society that values education. They dont have the extra funding that i mentioned before which was blown off as irrelevant.

Here is another stat for ya- my home district lost 66 teachers this year. Yet, our taxes went up. Hmmm guess my tax money isn't going to a better education after all
