NWR: iPad vs Microsoft Tablet

My fiance really wants the iPad, but I'm hearing really good things about the Microsoft Tablet, anyone have a suggestion?

NWR: iPad vs Microsoft Tablet

Personally besides my iPod I stay away from apple products like the iPhone and the iPad. One major reason for that is the lack of expandable storage(sd card slots) with the surface you can put an sd card in and have tons more storage. With the iPad you're stuck with the space you have.

From experience people who like apple products love everything. Personally the ipad is so much more user friendly (I say this because I made the switch from iPhone to a galaxy recently). Depending on what he does with it and what size gb you get you shouldn't have a problem with space. If he wants an ipad I say stick with it. I love mine ! This is just my opinion. Hope it helps

If your FH has an iphone, and ipod or a mac computer, get the ipad no questions asked. The cloud syncs all the devices and there is virtually no learning curve. I find the android devices more complicated to use and i am a former android phone user.

Re: NWR: iPad vs Microsoft Tablet

Im gonna chime in here since its NWR .

Im the kinda guy that likes to get in there and play around with things. Apple usually doesn't promote this kind of activity on their devices. Everything is locked and you break user agreements etc if you hack into something to do what it wasnt originally intended to do.

Which is great if you're content with the devices current limitations. Some people only want/need that.

For me though I will always like something I can MacGyver into something if needed.

Having said that, MS surface doesnt allow you to install the usual things you would expect to be able to install on a windows device. I cant go download VLC player and turn the device into a media player, or download emulators etc.

It really seems like the technology is starting to favor a more closed environment. Kinda sad, unless you dont care about user agreements and you're going to hack everything anyway .

Its all a matter of taste in the end.

Thanks, any suggestion as to what would work closest to a real computer ?

NWR: iPad vs Microsoft Tablet

I personally haven't seen anything that I would consider the same experience as an iPad with the freedom of a windows device.

Closest thing I could think of is a dell tablet, which is essentially a laptop with a touch a screen.

Got one for a friend but she ended up buying an iPad anyway. There's just nothing out there yet that has made me say 'shut up and take my money!'.
