Long story short lol My husband has been a retail manager for the past 10 years and is so tired of the hours. He has his bachelors in Theatre Technology and was unable to find a job in that field because it's more of a project to project type of job which makes it a little unstable. He is so ready to start over but doesn't know where to even look. Does anyone have any ideas? I really just need something to start the search. I don't know where to start.
TIA

I've been a retail manager for 12 years and was recently laid off, if you think of anything, share please!!! Currently job hunting :)
Maybe he can try office management, similar to our work experience minus the customers and has normal working hours.

Maybe try banking. It's similar to retail in that they have 'sales goals' but it's much better hours, benefits, and better pay. Fh is working part time as a customer service rep for a credit union while he gets his MBA in accounting. Your fh could def qualify for a higher up position with his management experience.

FH was a retail manager for 6 years; laid off from his first position, could only find another position in retail. He HATED it. He listed his resume with a staffing agency in May and got a temp position in an office which he absolutely LOVES and now only wants to work in an office setting. I would definitely recommend starting with a staffing agency!! The only downside is that the temp gig is up in 2 weeks and he hasn't heard yet if they're going to be extending his contract or if its back to the drawing board =/ at the very least, he now has office skills that he can list on his resume, which is more than he could say from retail!

I totally second the staffing agency idea! They're so good and helpful!
While I'm not in retail, I got laid off in February and had a hard time finding a job the first few weeks, gave my resume to a staffing agency and had an interview 3 days later! I temp-ed at the office I'm now working at for about a month and a half before something opened up and they offered me full time! The staffing agency gets your foot in the door, and makes the process so much faster/easier that it would be applying on your own!

The company I work for (big on LI) hires a lot from staffing/temp agencies, and almost all of the time if you're a qualified person, you'll get hired full time. Definitely check out staffing agencies. It's a great way to get your foot in the door and make connections.

If he's still into retail, but not working the floor, look into the buying offices of any major retailer based in NY ..if he has a bachelors and retail experience, he should be able to get into a buying or analyst role.

Yes! My sister went through a temp agency and got a job at a big hotel chain and they ended up offering her a permanent position. If she wasn't such a raging b!tch she'd definitely still have the job lol.
