NWR: Jumping Dogs...update

My 11 month old fur baby Emma had to have emergency surgery around 4 am Monday morning to remove a large plastic object from her stomach(probably a piece of a toy ) well she is in the hospital now with staples to close the incision it was big they cut her from her sternum down she has to have the staples removed in 2 weeks and will be discharged on friday to come home ..she is a very active lab who loves to jump up when she see people how do i get her to stop when she does this? ...obviously we can put our knee up to stop her like people have been telling me any other ideas to get her to keep all 4 paws on the ground? i dont want her to get hurt from jumping up

Update: My Baby came home last night she is on pain meds and antibiotics... we have to keep her from jumping running and all other Lab activities plus she has the cone on her head and she hates it..she keeps trying to attack it ..staples come out in 14 days and then she can resume all playing

Re: NWR: Jumping Dogs

she was ripping apart her Kong and chewing on little pieces i took it away they she started choking then threw up and her breathing started sounding funny so we too her to the 24 hr emergency vet they took xrays and found a large mass in her stomach so they did the surgery at 4 am and called at 5 to tell us it was a chewed up plastic toy it could have been there for a few days she was in ICU yesterday and will be allowed to come home Friday

OMG! I hope she feels better soon.

We have a yellow Lab and he likes to jump also. WE do the knee thing but Another thing I do now is that I dont greet him when I come in....and when i do go to greet him I tell him to sit before I pet him. It's tough to do that but ti's been working on his jumping.

We have an extremely active lab as well. It is so hard to get them to stop jumping when people walk in the door, but all we can do is just tell him no and down, did your dog go to training at all? Usually when someone initially comes over we will give him a bone and he is completely distracted and not as interested as the person walking in the door, until he inhales the bone, lol.
