has anyone had abnormal cells on their cervix and their gyn. had to scrape some of the cells off?
im in a lot of pain right now from the procedure... she said it was gonna hurt, but i was wondering if anyone else had this done and could tell me what to do for the pain...

this in no way should ever offend anyone and you have no need to apologize.....i havnt been through the procedure, but advil should be fine to take, unless you on any kind of other medication.....if you can deal with the pain until tomorrow i would suggest calling your gyno to confirm that advil or extra strength tylenol is ok to take.......if you cant wait until tomorrow prehaps you you could call the hospital and ask the obgyn on call for the night.....i'm so sorry you had to have this procedure done, i hope your feeling better soon!

a few girls were posting about a similair procedure on the 08 boards a few days ago - maybe you can post the question there? i had a friend have a procedure like that done and she was uncomfortable but nothing to bad - id take some tylenol for now. did the gyno tell you to expect some discomfort? its probably normal to have minor pain down there

Are you talking about a colposcopy? When they put the vinegar in there and scrape all the bad cells out? I had it done. I was in pain for about two days, and don't be alarmed if there is some weird colored stuff coming out either. Sorry if TMI!! You can definitely take advil or tylenol and that should help. If it continues to hurt after a couple of days, call your ob/gyn back and she will probably want to see you again.

I had it done a few years ago and it hurt so bad... the stuff they gave to numb me wore off before he snipped the last part and I felt everything.. he then put this antiseptic up there that made my poor vagina feel as though it was on fire... You will be ok after a day or so and in a few days the scabs from the inside will come out (gross I know, but it happens... ) just wear a light pad... Feel Better!!!!

Both my mom and my sister had it done. My mom's were worse and had to get surgery though. How about Motrin? Tylenol does nothing for me it's like giving me a gummi bear. Feel better!

I had that procedure about a month and a half ago. They found abnormal HPV cells and were checking for cervical cancer. The procedure itself was very uncomfortable to me and they had to take two biopsies from my cervix. I was in pain for about 5-6 days. I don't know if it was just me being a baby, or if it was normal. Hi!
I have had this done more then once and you should def take some motrin. Although Aleve and Advil tend to help, my doctor told me to stick with motrin. If you have any questions FM me I totally don't mind, and none of it will gross me out so dont worry!

thanks for your help girls! I went out and bought some motrin, and as of right now im not in too much pain anymore. hopefully it'll keep working. i appreciate all of your help!

We are not offended at all.. I am so sorry that you are in pain. One of my friends has to have this done every few months, I would take some aleve and call your gyno in the morning. I am almost sure that what you are feeling is normal but take the aleve and go to bed early, but call the dr. in the morning regardless!

Im not offended at all. Its great that we can be open with each other.
Never had this before, but I suggest extra strength motrin and get in the bed immidiately.

i had it done once and it was completely painless...really didn't feel anything or any discomfort and i have a really, really low pain threshold.
i would definitely call your gyn if you are still feeling this after a full day or two

Is this the same thing as a LEEP? I have a few friends who had HPV and they had to have abnormal cells removed. It's not a plesant procedure at all.

I had the colposcapy done too so I feel your pain! I thank god that my fh had vics and they helped! But even when those ran out, aleve was good too! Just try to relax and keep yourself busy! YOu will be fine...promise!
