Do you think it is in poor taste to design a new modern kitchen and use different brand appliances instead of having them be one uniform brand name?
Is this common, what is the norm?
I know in my house (where I grew up) we have a little of this and a little of that- of course the washer and dryers are the same brand. Our Kitchen is about 7 years old too- so it's fairly new.
Is it weird to have a Kitchenaid stove, Bosch Dishwasher, LG Fridge etc? Does it look better when it's one brand throughout?

I would think it might be best to have uniform applicances in the kitchen. Usually you can get package deals from places like PC Richard and Best Buy.

Re: NWR: Kitchen Design
I was told by PC Richards it didn't matter- they would work out the price for us regardless of brands.
I just don't know what the common practice is- I don't want to have a weird kitchen. Pretty much all the appliaces I have chose have diff. brands but look very uniform and they are all stainless.
I don't want to use only one brand because as LG does have a great fridge...they don't have a great dishwasher so I want to get the best product I can.

Re: NWR: Kitchen Design
we're redoing our kitchen and will most likely be getting different brands for the appliances. we already bought an LG refrigerator. we don't like the LG ranges, so we'll probably get a different brand for the range. as long as the colors and handles are the same color, it won't look weird at all. like our fridge has SS handles, so the handles on all the appliance will have to have SS handles, not black. if you choose all the same brand, you are really restricting yourself to just one brand. i want to be able to get the best i can for the price, and if it means each appliance is by a different manufacturer, so be it.

my parents are in the process of finishing their new home upstate, NY. their appliances are not by the same company. remember like anything else 1 company may make something better then another company.

I think it's fine to have different brands. Most of the appliances these days don't have huge nameplates or logos on them so you won't be able to tell. As long as the colors are the same, you're fine.

We are redoing our kitchen right now and our appliances don't match- Whirlpool Gold Fridge, Samsung Stove, and we have yet to buy a dishwasher, but we liked the Whirlpool Gold one, we just have to see how well its rated. And both my parents and FH parents kitchens didn't have matching.

We' re redoing our kitchen and are going with Whirlpool stove and dw, but a Frigidaire fridge. It's fine as long as they are the same color. I personally think it's better to get the best name on the market for each appliance than 'settling' just to have all the same brand!

PC Richard will still give you a package if you mix-match brands.

Re: NWR: Kitchen Design
Let me just add that FH and I spent the last 10 months house hunting. I never even noticed what brands of applicances were in the kitchen. The only thing I did notice is whether or not they were new and whether or not the color matched. That's it. We are signing the contract for a house this week and I have no idea what kind of appliances it has except they're all under a year old and they're black.....

I don't think the brands have to match. As long as they're all stainless steel, all black or all white. Unless, if you go with something funky like red, then yes, I would try to match them.
