My FH and I (then my husband) want to do something over Labor Day Weekend (leave Friday night and come home Monday). Not too far obviously b/c of the short time. Any ideas anyone. (Other that the jersey Shores). TIA!!!

Re: NWR: Labor Day Weekend Vacation
FH and I are taking a short weekend up to Newport, RI for our HM a few weeks after Labor Day, but I know it would be gorgeous up there for you!

There are a lot of places you can go, what are you looking to do?
Some options off the top of my head are Boston, Newport, The Poconos, DC, Mystic CT, and the Catskills.

Well, something not too far being that we would leave Friday night and return Monday. Something nice....

Niagara Falls is beautiful - I used to live near by and you can fly out of JFK to Buffalo for under $125 R/T for one person and rent a car from their. The just get onto 290 and take it to the Grand Island Bridge, cross that bridge and then you're pretty much on the border of Canada.
Make sure you have your passport or birth certificate with you. They won't let you cross without it now! License is not enough!

Is that enough time to go. leaving Friday night and returning Monday night

Yes. We did that last summer. It's a short weekend but you will have 2 full days there. Then Friday night and Monday morning.

This gives you more than enough time! You can spend Saturday night walking around the Falls, go to the Cave of Winds and if wanted - take the boat trip from the Canada side up to the falls (it's fun, but expect to get a little wet - they call it Maid of the Mist for a reason). Then you can spend the evening at the casino's - plenty to do there! The next day you could go shopping at the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall (like Tanger) or take a short road trip into Canada to Niagara on the Lake - beautiful area and so much to see and do!
