For those who have had it done or know someone, please tell me the experience and the results.
I am considering this more and more and want to hear all the good and bad about it. I know some people who still wind up needing glasses a few years after they had it, which kind of defeats the whole purpose, although the glasses weren't as strong as they used to be.
Thanks!

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
i haven't had it, but a friend of mine was just talking to me yesterday about her experience w/ laser eye surgery. she said that it was one of the best decisions she's ever made; she went from legally blind to perfect vision. the only downfall for her was that it was very expensive.

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
i know lots of people who have gotten it, none of them need glasses anymore (and we're talking 5+ years out).
none of them had anything negative to say.
i know you need like a weekend of complete downtime though... you gotta wear those super strong sunglass/goggles for a few days.

My co-worker had it done a few years ago, but she has to wear glasses now. She has an astigmatism and the doctor told her that’s why it didn’t last too long.

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
I had it done almost 4 years ago now. It was the best thing I've ever done. I can recommend a great doctor is you would like. I trusted him whole heartedly, he actually did my mom's surgery like 15 years ago when it first came out (however that was called PKR or something like that) Lasik is the new procedure and only some people qualify for it.
For me the worst thing about it was a) not wearing contacts for makeup for two weeks prior to the procedure, contacts change the shape of your eye and the two week period allows your eye to return to the normal form. You also cannot wear makeup because they do not want to run the risk of any makeup particles ending up in your eyes and causing problems.
The procedure took literally 30 seconds or less on each eye. I had it done around 2 o'clock and could see perfectly by 6

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
I got it done 4 years ago and it was one of the greatest decisions I made.
I was 10000000000% against it but I went for the tests and when everything came back good they just told me to come in tomorrow for the procedure. It kinda threw me off since it was so fast which is why I think I said yes lol. The anticipation is the worst and I was actually sick while waiting.
But the surgery itself takes like 2 min. TOPS. I didn't have the halo that many people get but my eyes do get dry fairly quickly now. I was almost legally blind but now I see perfectly!
Other then that no probs. I went to the Stahl Eye Center in Garden City.

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
By far one of the BEST decisions I have ever made! I have never ever regretted it! I totally reccommed TLC in Garden City. They were great! The procedure took 2 minutes tops and I was out. The doc told me my eyes would tear and feel like sand was in them for 4 hours and that the best thing to do would be to go to sleep. After exactly 4 hours my vision was perfect .. no tearing no gritty feeling. It will be 3 years in September that I had it done and I am still thrilled. My vision continues to be perfect but in the event that it does change TLC has a lifetime guarantee... so I can go back as many times as I want and have them do another adjustment!
I agree with one of the other posts.. the hardest part was not wearing my contacts and makeup for 2 weeks before!
PS>>> this company did Tiger Woods' eyes and some other celebs!

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
I had it done 2 years ago last April. I absolutely love it. I went from almost legally blind to 20/15. I don't even care if I end up back in glasses in 2 or 3 years. I know what it is like to wake up and see. I can go swimming without contact and all that stuff. It was worth every penny. I was extremely light sensitive and uncomfortable for the week following. That was it.

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
I had it done a little over a month ago and it's great now. When I first got it done I regretted it soo much!!! I rested for the weekend but I think I needed more time. Anything on a white background was very hazy and the computer screen was very hard to read for the first 2 weeks. It gradually got better and now I couldn't be happier that I got it done. But it's hard to explain to people that it's your eyes and you want them to be perfect right away. It feels like forever for them to heal even though it's only a matter of days. The Dr. did tell me I would need reading glasses in 15 years but I might have needed them anyway!!
Overall I would definitely recommend it but just be prepared to have some side effects for a little while after the surgery.

I had a very bad astigmatism and they said it was abnormal. A normal astigmatism runs in a t shape, mine was an x. I had to pay $400 for specialized contacts per year, so I stopped with those and stuck to my overpriced glasses and being blind since I was 7. Over 2 years after my surgery, I an 20/15....Better than perfect.

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
I had it done 8 years ago and still love it. I had astigmatisms in both eyes and now have better then 20/20 vision. The whole surgery take 2 minutes tops and you can see perdectly the minute it is done. I got it done at a place in Brentwood and have recommended 5 other people, all family, to the same place and they are all satisfied with their results.
My dr said once I get pregnant I may need a touch up but again you are in and out in less than an hour. My dr only charges $100 for a touch up.
The only con was my eyes were extremely dry for the first 2 weeks but its all worth it when you don't have to worry about glasses or contacts. Most insurance companies now pay for it or contribute towards it. If yours doesn't you can always do a carecredit card which is what I did and its interest free for the first year.
If you have any questions FM me.

haha, yea, i was warned already. i was not a candidate for lasik since i have thin corneas or something . i know PRK requires more of a recovery time but i was also told that it can be better for you in the long run. hopefully it is not that horrible

Re: NWR: Laser Eye Surgery
i had it done 2 weeks ago! and it was the best thing i ever diddd (besides marryind dh obviously, lol) everything went great! the procedure took about 10 minutes in total, if that. they just gave antibiotics drops to use the next few days. i woke up the day after the surgery and i could see everything clearly w/o glasses or contacts. the doctor said if i do need a touch up surgery afterwards i wouldnt have to pay anything. dh also had it done about 3 yrs ago and he hasnt needed a touch up or anything.
eta:: i was never in any pain for any part of the surgery or before the surgery and i only had dry eye for a few days after getting it done.
