NWR: laundry help

NWR: laundry help

don't make fun - how do you do laundry?

Like how do you know what to wash in hot, warm, cold, etc?

I did 4 loads at my parents yesterday (well, she kinda did it, I was busy with my nephew) so most of it is done, but I have to do one load for our towels, one for our bath robes, and one for our sheets.

Towels go in hot to desanitize, right?
Same with bath robes?????
what about the sheets???

and what about everything else??? Jeans, whites, etc?

THANK YOU!

I throw everything in together... and everything gets washed in cold/cold..

I always remember my mom saying hot water sets in stains... so i never wash in hot..

I was everything on cold.

OCCASIONALLY I'll do a load with sheets and towels in and I'll do that hot. Or a mess load of socks I'll maybe do hot.

But... it saves energy doing it cold and they come out just the same. Seriously.

I also wash everything in cold/cold.
Since I do laundry at my parents house they would have a heart attack if I was washing with hot water.

Also cold water protects colors and darks from bleeding or fading, and to avoid shrinkage.

Oh Haroula

Warm - towels, sheets, whites (sox, sweatshirts)
Cold - delicates - things that shrink - jeans - sweaters

If something is all cotton and you wash in hot, chances are it will shrink.

I don't mix my colors because if you wash them in warm, good chance they'll bleed on your other clothes.

your colors shouldn't bleed as long as they aren't new clothes.

if i have something red... i always wash in with no whites for the first few times but after that... all bets are off and i've never once had a 'pink sock incident'.

Re: NWR: laundry help

This is how my mom taught me when I was a kid:

Whites-hot

colors-cold

light colors/prints-warm

of course I wash any color towels or sheets in hot to make sure they are extra clean.

Note: you need to be careful washing anything that is new and colorful...because the color might run and stain your other laundry...i like to presoak that stuff by itself before I wash it.

Hope this helps!
