NWR: Lent

What are you guys going to give up for Lent?

I am going to give up sweets. I am ADDICTED to sweets. So my sacrifice for the 40 days will be giving up sweets and allowing myself 1x/week. I ultimately should be giving it up entirely but I would die so I figured going from everyday/every night to 1x week is a BIG sacrifice for me. I plan to get back onto my diet on Monday and hope that cutting out sweets will help me get my butt in gear and LOSE!

Praying I can really commit this time. I am looking in the mirror and am NOT happy. Sushi tonight with my cousin and V-Day tomorrow & come Monday that is IT. I am serious!!!

Last year I tried dto give up pasta & seriously couldn't do it. In fact I thought about it this year & my mom said no way you were a biotch when you tried that last year. this year I am giving up bread, bagels, & cookies. I am also going to try to get to the gym 3 days a week. I need to not only give up something but also make a positive change for myself!

I should give up soda with FH like I did last year. There's still time as I haven't had any yet today.

I'm not Catholic and don't do lent. Although I was brought up on no meat on Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday so I do obey that. But sometimes I do the lent thing to challenge myself. So i decided this year no drinking. I have cut down alot on going out and drinking and if i'm in a bar I have no problem getting a soda. So that one will be easy for me. The hard part though is me giving up soda. I've cut back alot and have been drinking water but after awhile i get bored with water and want flavor. So this one will be tough.

I usually don't give anything up, but this year I want to challenge myself and hopefully help my weight loss along, so I'm going to TRY to give up soda. I don't have it every day like I used to, so it won't be impossible, but it WILL be hard going the full Lent for it, even if I cheat on Sundays.

I'm bad - not giving anything up. It never works, I'm not too religious anyway.

I don't do Lent. I'm not religious at all and I wasn't really raised religiously either :/

I LOVE Lent.

I know -it's weird. Call me crazy but I'm giving up wine!!! I'll allow myself to have it on Sundays since that's usually when we have big family get togethers, but other than that - no vino for me. FH is going to HATE me!

OMG bless your heart! I refuse to give up my wine! Granted, I mostly just have it on weekends, but I need to know that I CAN have it

I'm with you! I'm giving up all junk food (but I give myself Sundays for a cheat day). I'm also going to do some type of exercise every day. Even if it's just a series of squats or crunches or doing my wii zumba. I love how most of our Lent goals are fitness/wedding related!

I'm giving up soda definitely! I gave it up 2 years ago and I kept through with it for a long while and then caved somewhere along the line and have gotten back into the habit of drinking it.

MissToMrs -- I like your idea of giving up the cards! I might try to do that with my credit cards too :)

I've been upset all day that I wasn't able to get ashes because of my schedule!!

I thought I was going to give up cheese and chocolate but then when I went to eat lunch I realized I wasn't paying attention this morning and packed a Lean Cuisine Macaroni and Cheese, so I was SOL with that one. Decided on chocolate, soda and online shopping. Chocolate and soda aren't things I eat or drink a lot so they won't be too bad, but online shopping is gonna be difficult!!!

Another soda giver upper. I gave it up 8 years ago for Lent and stuck with it for almost a year but than caved. I don't need it and it's a good way to practice my self control!
