NWR Moving in!!

NWR Moving in!!

So FH are approved for the apartment we put in for and are set to move the beginning of next month.

I'm excited to decorate and make it a home but at the same time a little overwhelmed. It's definately going to be a work in progress especially since we are starting with nothing... no furniture, bedding etc... we've been picking up things when they are one sale like plates but that's about it.

Where do I begin? Basically what do we really NEED to start with? I have plates, cookware, knives, and silverware. What else do I need that can't wait until the shower?

You definitely need towels and some sheets. If you cook you need some storage things for leftovers... I would say most other things can wait. Good luck!

Thanks... My mother just gave me some towels and I have a sheet set picked out.

as long as you can wash and dry your sheets/towels in one day you really only need one set. I remember being sooooooooo excited when fh and I moved in together. you're going to love it!!

Toiletries, garbage pale/bags, laundry basket etc..., swifter cleaner, paper towels, alarm clock - hit Costco or BJs its a good bang for a buck esp when your just starting out. And have a couple of 'garage sale dates' its fun time together and you can get some GREAT accents to make your apt your HOME!!! GOOD LUCK!!! FH & I just moved in together and we were in the complete opp. position. 10 years we both lived on our own so we had dbl/triple of everything!!! Wish I knew you then I could barely give anything away!!!

FH & I just bought all our furniture (bedroom and dining set) from Bob's Discount Furniture. They had a decent selection for a decent price....check them out if you're interested.

You'll need some pots and pans if you'll be cooking.
hangers
laundry bag, detergent, fabric softner, dryer sheets
dish washing soap, sponge
shower curtain, rings, toilet paper, bounty
garbage can

If you need furniture you can try Levitz and see if they have the no interest credit card. That's how we bought our furniture. We bought our entire living room and bedroom for under $3000 w/o int for two years! I just paid it off last month and it still cost me the same amount as the day I signed!! It worked out really well!!

Congrats!!

We are waiting to hear back about our apartment, but the guy told us it's pretty much guaranteed so we're set for the beginning of July. It's very exciting to pick out paint colors, etc.

Make sure you have at least one pot and one pan that can fit a decent amount of stuff in it, and some simple cooking stuff (spatula, spoon, oven mits, a knife, dish towel, etc.). Make sure you have a garbage can, cleaning products, a broom, at least two regular towels for the bathroom and a bath mat. After that everything else I think you could stand to wait a bit, or at least wait until you get more of that particular item.

congrats i moved in with my FH 2 years ago and i remember how that felt
i would really get some simple stuff and def cheap...i made so many purchases that now i dont know what to register for and i dont want to throw things out...also we use a lot of plastic cups and plates just cuz we dont like doing the dishes so you can invest in things like that

Dont rush into buying lots of stuff..Im sure you will get everything You need plus more at your shower!!!

Home Goods in Port Jeff has sheets for a reasonable price, they are Hotel Collection, FH and I have a king size bed and they're only $40 as opposed to a hundred. They are also good for pictures and little things around the house!
