Try new balance, I have a similar problem but I have pain on the balls of my feet, I feel like asics are more of a fashion sneaker these days, New balance are great maybe get them a half size bigger and buy gel inserts HTH Good luck!

i have had great success with Easy Spirit sneakers. They have different levels of support based on what you will use them for!
They are the ONLY sneakers I wear, and i have nerve damage in my foot.

It happens to me as well and I wear asaics or adidias. I think it's because you have your feet in one position for a long time and they need to move so more blood can flow into them. When it starts to happen to me I try and lift my feet up a few times and that tends to help. If you figure out a way or a pair of shoes that makes this go away please let me know!

There's a place called Super Runners' Store (or Shop) in Huntington Village. They are extremely knowledgeable there. I call the guy my shoe guru. It's like he was psychic - he knew which part of my shoe would be more worn out, etc just from my complaints. Anyway he put me in Asics - but not just any ones (I wanted a different color/style and he said that they aren't as good. They have a pretty small selection because they are only tested as the best for running/exercising.

I know!!! one reply said it was b/c our feet are in one position...but I see people on these things forever!!! Why doesn't it happen to them!!!! I know she's right but there's got to be a way around this.. I even try to lift my feet when it happens instead of keeping them planted on the eliptical but it does nothing.. then i tried the treadmill...still bad... and my feet are in constant motion on the treadmill!!!

Re: NWR: NEED ADVISE ON SNEAKERS OR SOMETHING!!!
This happens to me to. Especially when I am working out., or horseback riding ( when my pinky toe goes numb). My brother said the same thing. It's because there is pressure on the point of your foot and blood is not flowing....I have to literally shake my foot to get blood flowing again, and in a few minutes it gets better....HTH

this happens to someone i work with! i asked her if she kept her foot flat on the eliptical or she raises her heel. she raises her heel.
try keeping your foot flat on the pedal while youre on it...this seemed to help my coworker

Honestly i havnt done anything about it
I really love nike sneakers, i am not sure if that is reason fo the numbness
When i was working out before the wedding, whenever i would go on the elliptical my toes and feet would get numb and get pins and needles
I thought it was normal

Whoever suggested Super Runners Shop is right........any running store (second wind or sayville running company) has very knowledgable people who can look at your feet and give you the right shoe for you and your activities.
I hope things clear up! Good luck!

Re: NWR: NEED ADVISE ON SNEAKERS OR SOMETHING!!!
I read about this in my Women's Health magazine, I think. Could have been another. But there's a reason for it, and I think it has to do wiht the elliptical your gym has. I will go see if I can find the article online ...
ETA: Couldn't find it on women's health, but this yahoo! answers question has some info.
Check out jimbell's answer, this is what the article I read said to do.
