I was taken off birth control because I developed phlebitis (blod clots) in November. I went to a hematologist and had bloodwork done and everything is fine, I can go back on birth control. However my gynocologist wants me to use this. Does anyone use this?

I use it and I love it. The best part is that you only have to worry about it once a month instead of taking a pill every day.

Re: NWR: Nuvaring??
I do--I love it. No pills to remember, and it's a very low dose of hormones because it's, uh, so close to the source. You only have to remember it once a month. The only thing is that I've heard that some women can feel it, and some men can feel it, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why. My FH is rather, um, large, and he can't feel it.
When I started, my gyn gave me a freebie for a month to try out. See if yours has one. If you put it in and immediately don't like it, then call and get another BC option. Otherwise, try it out for a couple of months--I believe you need to try each version for three months to really see how it works.

My gyn gave me this option too and I'm not sure if should try it or not. Let's just say my body doesn't react well to the pill anymore and I was on BCP's for over 10 years, so she said this is the best option. I'm kind of freaked out a little by using it or trying it out. Is it hard to use?

My best friend is on the Nuvaring and for some reason ever since she is an emotional rollercoaster.

Is it hard to use? No--you kinda squeeze it in half and shove it in there. No harder than using an OB tampon, which is what I've always used anyway.
There's nothing to be scared of, unless you've had a bad reaction to hormonal BC before. But even that might not be so bad as it is a small dose of hormones, and not much goes in your bloodstream, unlike a pill that goes in your stomach. However, every woman reacts differently to every kind of hormonal BC. Some love one pill, some go nuts on it, or break out, or get cramps, and others have their skin clear up and calm down. It's totally random, you have to try it out to find out. Most women, though, tolerate it very well.

I used it and hated it. It would never stay up there and then FH would end up pushing it up there when we were together. It was too annoying for me.

Re: NWR: Nuvaring??
I was on the pill for about 10 years then I was off for 2 and I wanted to go back on because I didnt want to ruin my wedding by getting preggers - aka not fitting into my rockin dress. Hench my Dr gave me the nuva ring a few months ago to try. I liked the once a month aspect and that it had a low dose of hormones in it because I dont like fing around with my hormones.
I had no problem putting it in or getting it out - but I am not very shy with myself either so I can see if you are not pals with your 'lady parts' you might have some tension putting it in. I couldnt' feel it once it was in neither could FH. It was really cool actually. Unfortunatly even the low dose of hormones made me in to a temper tantrum throwing - crying beast of a mess - so I had to stop using it. I think I am very hormonal to begin with so this must have just put me over the edge emotinally. I wish I could still use it though - playtime with FH was nicer.......

Re: NWR: Nuvaring??
I've been using it for a few months now- the first month I was obscenely emotional- but it has tapered off- just normal PMS for a few days a month... Also- I felt really bloated and had huge cravings all the time and didn't lose any weight even though I was dieting and exercising (not giving into cravings...) more the first month.
The bloating has pretty much stopped as well as the cravings.
Overall, I like it!
I hate pills and have the memory span of a goldfish when it comes to remembering to take them. Neither FH nor I can feel it either

Do you think I should go on it before the honeymoon? I am planning on starting it this month when I get my period...so we don't have to worry about anything on the honeymoon...

Are you on anything now? BC takes at least one month to be effective.

That's true. Even on the pill if you read the packet info or ask your doctor you're protected from day 1 if you use the first day of period start date. If you wait till say the following sunday after your period they recommend using backup method for the first week at least.
