I have to say that took a lot of guts, someone was trying to blackmail him, so he felt the need to come foward and explain and he is resigning in early Nov.
ETA: Okay the story is an ex staffer is going to sue him..

I never read anywhere that he was being blackmailed. But so what if he is gay. That doesn't send a positive message to people out there. But like another girl said, maybe he'll work on gay rights.

It's not that he is gay so much as it is he cheated on his wife with a man. I think that is moer of the issue.

Part of his speech alluded to him being blackmailed somehow. His speech was very vague honestly...in the beginning i was like...stop beating around the bush..get to the point. I suspected he was coming out.

Aga..she may be in shock. I would be..but then I would wake the heck up and after we did our little public appearance..I would be drawing up divorce papers. That is one issue we cant work out.

I think he is coming out and resigning bc he was about to be blackmailed by his former lover (who he had hired on his staff and apparently gave perks to). So it was going to come out anyway.
