NWR: Orlando Experts!!! I'm going to Florida!!

Super excited because I'm going to Florida on May17-May21!!!
Before I book any tickets I'm trying to figure out a realistic itinerary. I'll probably do the base tickets. Does one park consume an entire day?

Mon: (arrival) Disney Hollywood Studios

Tues: Epcot

Wed: Magic Kingdom Park

Thurs: (One of our favorite three parks we visited OR Universal Studios)

Fri: (departure) Seaworld

Does his look like a good itinerary? FH isn't crazy about Animal Kingdom. We looked at Discovery Cove, but it's way to expensive.
Do you ladies think it's better to do Universal Studios instead of one of the parks we visit on our first three days there?

Any opinions on Universal Studios would be greatly appreciated. Thank you soooooo much!!! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to go!!! I haven't been to Florida in years so I'm completely out of the loop!!.

I'm an expert, lol. Just from my own experience, I say you could do MGM, Universal, Sea World and Epcot all in a day each. I would definitly allow 2 days for Disney. So much to do!

OMG remember Universal has 2 parks. Islands of Adventure was amazing!

I'd def take a full day for the magic kingdom. you can do epcot and mgm together but you'll be running around.

btw Id skip seaworld and take my time in the disney and univ parks.

Does Islands of Adventure have lots of roller coaster rides? I don't mind, but FH has issues with them. lol.

Harry Potter doesn't open until June...sorry

But...you definitely need a day at least for Magic Kingdom, a day at Epcot and a day at MGM are plenty...Universal is great but they do have a lot of roller coasters. Stick with just universal if you are trying to avoid them...they have a lot in Islands of Adventure. Animal Kingdom is great if you decide to go. It is only 1/2 day to get through the whole thing. Not a real fan of sea world...sorry. HTH

BTW...have a great time!!

You can definitely do MGM and Animal Kingdom in the same day. (Do AK in the morning and MGM after.)

Yayyyy I used to work at EPCOT center. Working at Disney World has completely taken away any interest in going back there for fun. I know too much now about why they do what they do and all of the stuff that goes on offstage think you need a full day for the Disney parks. When you go say hello to my old Mousegear coworkers for me and have fun. And take a ride on test track at Epcot. Enjoy your trip

How long did you work there? Thanks for the advice. :)

I worked there for a year. My only regret is that I waited until the end to start going to some of the shows, which are all very good.

Disney is definitly my favorite. Make sure you stay for the Spetromagic parade at night and the fireworks. I liked EPCOT too. The World Showcase is a lot of fun. Im not a big fan of rollercoasters so Universal isnt at the top of my list. If you havent been to Seaworld it might be fun. I always kinda thought once though for seaworld is enough. Animal Kingdom was ok. Aside from the safari, I wasnt to impressed.

Does every park do a fireworks show at night?

I used to work at Disney! Your Forgot Animal Kingdom. Depending on how much you like a park it can turn into a whole day thing. As for Downtown Disney, IDK if you were planning on going there too, but that can be done in a few hours and in really nice at night. If you need anymore help just let me know.

Edited to add ----- Seaworld now has an entire HUGH water park!!

Animal kingdom is one of my least favorite, everything is sooo far away from each other and like nothing in between, a lot of kid things, you really dont need a whole day there its more a half day thing.

Re: NWR: Orlando Experts!!! I'm going to Florida!!

Let me preface this by saying I'm a little obsessed with Disney World, so this might be long.

Magic Kingdom and Epcot are definitely whole day parks. You might consider moving your MK day to either Monday or Thursday because the park is open later on those days and you'll get to see more (MK has A LOT to see). Plus, those days have the SpectroMagic parade at night, which is really cool... light up electric floats, followed by the Wishes fireworks show over the castle. Not to be missed!

Here's Magic Kingdom's May calendar so you can look up the parade/fireworks times.

Also, are you staying within Disney? If you're at one of the Disney Resorts you can take advantage of extra magic hours (see the calendar) so you can have more time at the park.

The Illuminations fireworks at Epcot are also worth seeing, so you can stay there all day for those too.

IMO, Hollywood Studios doesn't take a full day, but maybe you could come back to your hotel after you're done there and have a swim or something, then go back for the Fantasmic show at night. BUT you would have to change HS to Wednesday to see Fantasmic! That's the only night for it.

I would also switch out SeaWorld for Animal Kingdom, personally. AK has a lot more going for it now than it did a few years ago. The Everest ride alone is worth the trip!! Plus the shows there are great. But it's definitely only a half day park... depending on where you're leaving, that could be perfect for your last day. Just a thought.

I've only been to regular Universal, not Islands of Adventure... and I was bored out of my mind at Universal. I hear Islands of Adventure is really cool though if you like thrill rides and such.

You can FM me if you need help with anything. I love talking about Disney! hahaha
