NWR- queens and astoria girls help!

anyone that is familiar with queens can you please help!

i know queens, and astoria the most, but never lived there.
can anyone tell me how is it to live there? FH and I went to look at an apartment we like today, its on 21st avenue close to the river.

is it safe? are there good resturants to go out to eat at? also my daughter goes to kindergraden in sept 09, can you guys tell me hows the school and which ones are good?

I know some nice restaurants along ditmars that are pretty good. . . And there a great Famous Brands spot off of broadway to get great work and party clothes. .

I am really a JH girl (Jackson Heights) so I don't know too much about Astoria except for maybe a couple brunch spots. .

A great romantic restaurant spot is Brick. www.brickcafe.com/ It is on 33rd in Astoria --I LOVE that restaurant.

Ummm ok I know there is a private school affilliated with St. Johns somewhere over there -- but I don't know exactly where. But it is an excellent private school a couple of young ladies of my church that I mentor -- graduated from there and all got college scholarships.
