Hi Ladies! DH and I want to plan a road trip but base it on food destinations. Since we like to watch the food and travel channels does anyone have any suggestions or have you done this?

Vermont for maple syrup and Ben and Jerry's.
Montreal for great beer and poutine. And more maple syrup.
Wisconsin for....CHEEEEEEEEEEEEESE.
Philly for cheesesteaks.
Chicago for deep dish pizza.
Maryland for crabs.
Maine for lobster.
It's really endless.
Oh and NJ for....microwave burritos. They have nothing else to offer in that craphole state.

We love food too!! We're obsessed with Anthony Bourdain's show and anywhere we go we always refer to where he suggests eating.
We're going to visit the Culinary Institute of America next weekend in Poughkeepsie and seeing Bourdain next weekend in Kingston..
Road trip themed with Bourdain in mind!!

FH and I went to Chicago this past summer and made a point to have not only the deep dish pizza but the italian beef sandwiches-saw them on Food Wars on the Food Network.
Also there's Buffalo for wings, Philly for cheesesteaks and my all time fave...Key West for some key lime pie

Philly cheesesteaks from south street, philly are my favorite out of state famous food I've had. Plus it's really really pretty down there..
FH & I got cheesesteaks and then went on a horse and buggy ride around town and down by the water. It was soo romantic...
(because cheesesteaks are romantic lol)

I used to go to school up there, yummy. My friends were all enrolled in school there (brought home the most amazing food)
FH & I made a trip there when we went to new paltz last summer just for the food.

Re: NWR: Road trip based on Food Destinations?
Yup, we are guilty of this. Our first roadtrip was called the foodnetwork tour. We started in NJ and ended in Georgia.
We also did a roadtrip going to locations Guy Fieri has gone to from Diners Drive in and Dives.
Our last road trip was our Man Vs. Food road trip.

YUP! FH and I did this after he passed the bar last year! We followed Guy's suggestions from Diners, Drive-ins and dives from Food network. It gives you the list of places he visited by state so it was easy to map out. HTH!List here!

Re: NWR: Road trip based on Food Destinations?
FH is a jersey boy and we bought a house there.
While I love to disagree with you, we've gone to THREE places we've seen on food network in NJ including
Rut's Huts (Deep fried hotdogs) - hotdogs sitting in oil, not fried fresh. Cold buns, pale fries, only good thing was the relish.
RItz diner (Diners drive in s and dives) - found a hair in my salad. stale fries
Some other diner on diners drive ins and dives - horrible. Really, really bland food and creepy people.
So we've definitely struck out, guy fieri either has really bad taste or is a hell of an actor.
That being said, there are really good restaurants for gourmet food where you spend so much less than NYC and can BYOB that FH and I have found. SERIOUSLYY, come visit meee
