*NWR* sensitive plus size issue please help...

I need a suit for student teaching and I have spent 3 full days looking for one- I went to 3 malls- burlington coat factory- dress barn- macys- jcpenney- lord and taylor and bloomingdales as well as avenue and lane bryant......NOTHING

Usually in my jeans I am a size 13/14 or 15/16-- i shop at regular stores and my wedding dress is a size 16------why am i not fitting into suits that are a size 18? I don't understand it and all I can do now is cry and give up........

I am not that familar with long island so please if any one has any idea of what I can try- please let me know

Don't give up!!!

Try Filene's Basement - there is one in Jamaica, Queens and another in Levittown - you can get some great deals on designer suits!!!!

Also, what about Ann Taylor Loft?? There is one of those in Huntington.

I know Banana Republic also carries size 16. I get all my suits there and I love them, but I am not sure if the 16 is true to size. I know for my size it is true to size, but I've herad other people say they think it runs small.

Hey date twin....
I agree..try Ann Taylor Loft or Banana.
I am surprised you didn't find anything in Macy's or Lord & Taylor...I usually find all my suits in Lord & Taylor.
Loft might be good...becuase you can buy separates so if you are one size in pants and another in the jacket.

HTH!!!

first - don't fret! no matter WHAT SIZE we all are we have all had shopping days where NOTHING FITS!! size 2 through 22! so take a deep breath aaaand release! how about trying somewhere like bloomies or even nordstroms? or, i don't know if you're ever in the city, but Macy's on 34th always has a HUGE selection compared to LI!!! and really good sales - especially this time of year!

I know they are a bit more expensive.....and i'm the first one to shop for a bargin. but if you spend a bit more you'll have it forever!

good luck and dont worry! you WILL find something - you're just having a bad shopping moment!

What about Lane Bryant online.....or...did you go to the one in Smithaven Mall...they have a pretty good selection. I was just there a couple of days ago and they have suits, their just not matched up....usually on display separate.

Otherwise, you can try Torrid in Massapequa mall...they used to carry suits (not sure if they still do)....but they were very nice....I bought one from there last year. You should give them a call first depending on where you are from....I plan on going this weekend for a couple of honeymoon shirts, jeans, etc....if it can wait, i'll let you know if they have anything....

you might want to try SEARS! They carry up to 18 in misses sizes and maybe you can find separates. the Sunrise Mall has nice selection and you could also check Macy's and Penney's there to see if they have different selection.

Thanks for all the suggestions- I've tried most of them but I am going to calm down and try again soon--- I'm so stressed out b/c I need a suit for an interview for student teaching (i'm sure I don't and my advisor is stressing me for nothing) but I like to follow rules lol

and btw- i agree it is impossible to find clothes today- nothing fits right and nothing runs true to size- either too big or too small

my biggest problem is that i am in between plus size and misses---i need to gain or loose 20 pounds and i am going to try to loose! lol

here's what i do...
get something a little big on you .. whatever one fits the problem area the best.. (tummy , thighs etc...) take it to a tailor.. (dry cleaner etc).. they will make it look like it was made just for you!
its def. worth the extra money to get it fit to you perfectly

try ann taylor, maybe a plus size store b/c you'll be getting it tailored to a smaller size

I agree with looking at kohls..I just saw some nice suits there....you will find something..I know how you feel ...from what you described we are about the same size and I know its hard to be that in between size....

hope you find something beautiful....

I also had a similar issue a couple years back when I was going on interviews, and it was VERY FRUSTRATING!! I ended up getting mine and Macy's...but the pants were very tight on top, but you really couldn't tell with the jacket on. I also looked everywhere....lane bryant, burlington...you name it, I went there!!

But....if the interview is for student teaching, i wouldn't put yourself through this stress!! Wear a nice pencil skirt and a button down, or dress slacks and a nice blouse and shoes! On e of my friends always dresses really classy and nice, no suit, and has never had a problem on interviews, even her school interviews.

Good luck!!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! I have the same problem. I have a lot of luck with Kohls, Sears & i'd highly recommend trying a few different Lane Bryants. They all have different things...and there used to be a store called Sizes in West Babylon - i'm not sure if it's still there - but they always had great things. It's in a shopping center with a Lane Bryant as well...

I love New York and Company for work clothes - and their sizes tend to run a bit large, actually, so I never end up feeling gigantic when I shop there - plus their prices are great! There's one in the Roosevelt Field Mall.

try NY & Company. They go up to an 18/20 i think. I'm surprised you couldn't find anything at Lane Bryant though. You can also try Macy's and JC Penney. Maybe not what you were looking to do, but they should have something. HTH
