Wow! Thanks.
Have you ever been to any of the ones in NY? We don't really want to leave the state.

My favorite in NY is Whiteface Mountain (Lake Plaicd, NY) ... but it is far ... it take a minimum of 4-1/2 hours ... if not more!
But the mountain is not crowded, the lift tickets are a bit cheaper, the lodging is inexpensive (under $100 per night at most places) and there are a ton of resturants and bars to go to in Lake Placid.

IMO, Hunter is very crowded - you end up just trying to avoid people all day instead of actually skiing. But the nightlife is plentiful up at Hunter - it's a BIG hangout for a lot of college / 20-year old's ... fun place!

Re: NWR - Ski Resorts?
honestly - whiteface is great (i love mountains that don't get to crowded)- just not in january - tends to be too cold and close - i used to race there a lot- but there is also lots to do in the town
Mount snow is not bad - it is close to manchester for outlet shopping if get sick of skiing - mount snow does get pretty crowded but there are other ski arreas close too - not that much to do at night
other good areas in that region is Okemo( good for beginers or if you like groomed runs), Bromley - not well known but good family mountain - not too crowded - Stratton - really crowded and expensive tickets
Hunter is fun at night but dangerous to ski at - i am a really good skier and know how to avoid people and have been hit there twice before by other skiers skiing out of control
Ski wyndham is close to hunter a little further away - not much to do around - we use it for day trips mostly - but less crowded then hunter

Re: NWR - Ski Resorts?
We go up to our family's house in Windham every weekend. I like the small town atmoshpere. and since theres no snow right now, we go to Albany and shop on the weekends.
Im just lucky cause I only live 1 hr from Windham Mtn. (one of the good things about living upstate)
If you want any info...FM me and I'll tell you about the town
