NWR: Snowboarding?

NWR: Snowboarding?

Okay so FH took up this sport about 2 years ago & I have finally decided to try it this season. Although it looks like fun I am very nervous! Am I going to fall alot? Will I be in pain from using muscles that I never knew I had??

I have asked FH all these questions but I feel like he is sugar coating it so that I don't change my mind!

TIA

Yay!!! Have fun! Where r u going?
I used to teach snowboarding, and I can just tell you- don't let the frustration ruin your day!
You will fall a bunch, and your butt will be sore. But it's a blast, and the learning curve is real steep. The second time you try, you will be amazed at your progress!
Don't give up, and have fun!

Im going to be blunt. (& truthfull) Yes.. you will fall (ALMOST guaranteed). Yes.. You will be in pain.. alot actually. Yes, you will have fun Its going to be very scary for your first time. You just have to learn balance. Make sure you wear snow gear and waterproof gloves. Most important.. Be careful!!!

Probably going to Hunter after the holidays. I know my rearend will be killing me! I know it is something we can 'do together' and he really loves it, so I am going to give it a shot.

I told FH that I will try it & if I like it I will not do it after February...don't want anything broken for the big day!

Re: NWR: Snowboarding?

I was in the same boat last year with my FH and the best advice that was given to me was wear good knee pads, wrist pads, and take a lesson. My FH was so patient with me and taught me better than the lesson. He was a great instructor.

On the pain aspect, plan on falling a lot and at least in my case, I kept falling on the same side so I had a nice huge black and blue. I remember I wanted to give up, but luckily I didn't. Because after 5 different trips last season, I graduated from the bunny slopes and tried a green diamond and loved it. (I am a slow learner.) We plan on going again this season. (If we can find the time)

Key is to remember that it is okay to fall. My FH actually had me practice to fall so I wouldn't be so scared with it.

Good Luck and Be Careful!

I have been snowboarding for 11 years!

I still fall

take a lesson- it will be more fun if you learn the basics then go out on your own

my old roon didn't listen to me and she got hurt really bad- torn her ACL on the first run!

You will fall!! If you're lucky, mostly on your butt!!!

I only snowboarded once, and while practicing I was fine, when it came time to get off the lift, it was downhill from there (no pun intended). I fell right off the lift and couldn't stop laughing.

You might want to try snowboarding goofy first. I know a few people who said it was easier for them to learn that way. I may try going goofy next time, because I kept flying down the hill backwards!!!

you will fall alot - but go into it knowing that you will. i learned skiing as a kid and i thought falling was so funny - so i enjoyed learning.
get good ski pants - u will get wet & cold.

and you will use different muscles - but none that should KILL you after wards.

good luck - have fun - and dont worry!!!

The DAMN lift--that is what I am afraid of! FH rides goofy, but I wasn't comfortable standing that way. OMG backwards-now that is funny! You are lucky you didn't hurt yourself!
