NWR: Stalker friend

NWR: Stalker friend

I have a friend that I work w/ and she is a stalker. Last summer she would LITERALLY call me 4-5x a day EVERYDAY!!! It came to the point where other people even noticed how often she called. When school started up again in Sept she calmed down. Well let me tell you, since school started winding down (and now ended) shes starting AGAIN.

Last yr she would call me from her home and husbands office number (office is in the house). The home # shows up on caller ID but office # is private.

Well just about an hr ago she was calling and i didnt answer. Just now the phone rang and it was private. I answered and I knew someone was there but no one spoke. Then i thought, if this is her, she is prob seeing if im here and i bet any amt of money that the phone is gonna ring again w/ her home # showing. Wouldnt you know it, 2 mins later, she calls. She prob wants to see if I screen her calls.

How do i get her to not call me ALL summer long?? Shes in a crappy marriage and has no other friends and although i should feel bad, shes SOOOOOO needy!!! HELP

ETA: sorry so long

tell her you want to help, but you can't be on the phone all day at work with personal calls, its not such an out there excuse.

There really isn't too much you can say-I have a friend like that--she calmed down lately. But she called all the time and I never picked up and never returned her calls. She never did get the hint--but I never knew what to say.
I feel bad for you, because I know how it feels

d'oh! sorry, i can't read. i see, so she thinks that since she is home all day, you are just waiting by the phone for her to call? she needs to back off. lay it on the line, don't mean to come across as harsch but sometimes people don't get the message the first time, you know

I would politely tell her that you enjoy her friendship (if that is true) but she is sort of crossin the line--tell her you have lots of wedding plans to do, etc appointment and you can't talk to her during the day/all day/everyday. Maybe you should suggest that she see a councelor or something to listen to her problems.

oh my gosh, a good friend of mine used to do that to me too. in general, i usually dont answer my phone cuz i rarely ever have it on me. she used to call back with a blocked number. i thought it was so weird cuz why would you call a 'so called' friend with a blocked number. i mean if she thought i was screening her calls, why would she want to talk to me anyway? in my situation, the friend turned out to be a user, and i would spend hours talking to her about her problems and her bad relationship, and i would not get much back in return. Also, all the negative talk would end up getting me into a bad mood too.

In my opinion, you should keep screening her calls and only answer when YOU want to.
good luck!

wow she sounds a little bit on the crazy side!
I would just keep making up excuses until hopefully one day she gets the hint!

Ouch Mich, this girl sounds desperate! (You know I'm scrolling through to try and figure out who this is!) Anyway, I would keep screening your calls and answer only when you feel like chatting. Sometimes I need to do that w/ one of mine (I think you know who) b/c she is lonely and wants to talk on the phone ALL THE TIME! As soon as she is alone (ie in a cab, on the train) she calls. I love her, but it takes it's toll, and as not yto hurt feelings, we screen.

wow....she is out of controll...To be honest with you she doesnt should like she wants help she just wants to complain - Like one of those friends that always says I know your right --- but never does anything about it -
Have you told her ...Look i am not turning my back on you but i have my own stiff too ....one phone call a day is enough -
I am mean i wouldnt answer the calls or change my number ...but like i said i am mean -

COOKOO...COOKOO. Tell her that you are busy planning your Wedding and you really don't have time to be talking to her all the time.

Michele.. wow.. thats terrible.

Does this girl have any other friends or family???

I would just tell her straight out that your busy and you HATE talking on the phone.

Suggest that you two can get together over coffee one day... Just make it known how crasy busy you are.. thats it. Trust me, she will eventually get the hint.

I am going to refrain from calling her crazy.. but there's something wrong with this situation if she has to call you from a private line to see if you are screening her call! If she suspects you screening her call, shouldn't she get the hint??

I feel bad for her that she's in a crappy relationship, but perhaps she should go out there and meet more people and spread her calls evenly among a few different people

Just politely tell her that you have lots of wedding plans and this summer is crucial for your planning since you are off you need to fully utilize your time. Then continue to screen her calls!

We always screen, and NEVER answer 'unavailable' or 'private' calls. If it's important, they'll leave a message.

I would just keeop screening your calls. Tell your FH and your other friends to leave messages bc you will be screening.

Screen her calls. If you see a private # and you anwer it and no one's on the other end and then 2 mins later she calls on her regular line don't answer it. Hopefully she'll catch on. If not, then you're just going to have to say something.

Good Luck!
