NWR: Struggling
It's been so hard for me to stick to my diet/exercise routine. A couple of years ago I lost 45 lbs and managed to keep it off for a while. I recently gained back 7 lbs and it's made such a difference on my body/self esteem. I don't want to say I'm depressed but I've been really down lately. I honestly don't even want to go out because I feel horrible about my body & the weight I've put on. I try to stay motivated by having pictures of the wedding gown I want on my phone and computer screen but I can't say it's been working too well. What are you doing to lose weight? How do you stay motivated?

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. I know it's so difficult. Don't even take one day at a time, take one hour. Be kind to yourself and forgive yourself for the mistakes. Keep healthy snacks around and self talk before each food choice. Good luck!

I've dealt with weight issues my whole life, my whole family has really. I looked at my old photos from high school and thought about how I would love to get back down to that size (I believe I was a 14 there). I went for my dress a few weeks ago and they had order a size 24 for me. I know dresses run small, but I was thrown off a little. I carry a bit of my weight in my hip and butt area, which is the main reason they had to go a size 24.I would like to get down to at least a 16 by my wedding, which I think is doable. I am trying to watch what I eat and to really get moving. I take walks at work, usually 15-20 minutes everyday. I am also using MyFitnessPal to track my calories. I am looking to add some more exercises to my routine as well.
My FH tells me I am beautiful as is (he doesn't think I need to lose weight). But I feel the difference in my pants, especially the hip area. I'm motivated by doing things for me and to get myself healthy. I always feel better when I eat right.

Weight has been an issue for both FH and I. I was a heavy child/teenager and lost about 30lbs while in college and have tried to maintain a healthy weight since. There are definitely times I find myself gaining and being unhappy with the way my body looks and how I feel in my clothes. FH was 220lbs before I met him and has been able to lose 60lbs and maintain it.I actually just started doing T25 last week and I really like it. At one point last week, every muscle in my body hurt which was a sign that I was actually working out. It's 25 mins a day and I do it right in my apt which is easier for me since I know I won't have the motivation to go to the gym everyday. FH is currently doing Insanity Asylum for the second time.
I have tried to control my random eating of junk. FH says I need to snack to keep my metabolism going but good snacks like fruit and carrot sticks. So our fridge is stocked with those items.
MyFitnessPal is a great way to track calories. My coworker swears by it. Good luck!

yeah FH tells me the same thing. I told him yesterday he just didn't understand
then last night he came to my house and brought me a fruit salad & regular salad to show he's supporting me. I really appreciated it. Good luck on your weight loss journey as well!

Thank you! I agree that myfitnesspal is great. It's what I used to lose 45 lbs 2 years ago. I have a big problem with junk food. I actually prefer junk food over regular food any day. It's especially hard when everyone around me is eating junk also. But I do need to start buying healthy snacking options.
I've never heard of T25 but 25 minutes a day does sound very reasonable. I'm going to look into it. Thanks again!

I need to start working out and eating healthy again! Lucky for us (since I see your a 2016 bride also) we do have time so we can really do it right. I lost weight a few years ago by portion control and did a Jillian Michaels video. I feel like I can't stick to a diet if I'm not gonna feel satisfied so when I make dinner I load up on veggies then give myself a smaller portion of whatever carb I'm having. Hope this helps!

It's through beachbody and Shaun T is the person who created the workouts. There are 4 people working out with him in the videos and the one girl does all modified moves. So sometimes when I can't do the actual move (like burpees) I do the modified move and still sweat and get a good workout.

Even though the wedding is in 2016 i'd like to lose the weight now. I was thinking of doing our engagement shoot in september but then backed out of it because I was self conscious about how the pics would come out because of my weight. I think you're right about not dieting and just controling my portions. I diet for a week and then I eat everything in site lol. Thanks for the help!

Just looked up reviews & everyone seems to love it. I think I might order it. Thanks again!

Re: NWR: Struggling
Have you ever tried eating a clean diet? I'm not going to lie it is EXTREMELY hard and tedious, and down right sucks, however, I suggest it only because it worked for me. I LOVE junk food and I LOVE to eat ( I mean LOVE ), but last summer FH and I did a weight training program and ate clean during this time, and I have to tell you - eating whole, unprocessed foods made such a difference in how I felt. I slept better, had more energy, better focus. We would allow ourselves one 'cheat meal' a week and let me tell you, after a week of eating unprocessed foods that pizza or cheeseburger would make me feel so sick! It really changes your view on food. We are not as strict with our diet now, we watch what we eat during the week and on weekends will allow ourselves a nice dinner and a treat or two. You cannot deprive yourself completely. If I really want a snickers bar on Monday I'll try to hold off, if by Wednesday I still am craving that snickers bar I eat it. It will not kill me and mentally you can't kill yourself over slip-ups, they are unavoidable. Accept it and accept that tomorrow is a new day to continue your journey. As far as exercise, you need to find something that catches your attention and you find enjoyable, something that will make you look forward to working out. I have been doing a Les Mills program called Combat for a little over three months and absolutely love the results. It is slow progress, but definitely noticeable, and you have time. I really believe slow and steady wins the race. Anything that allows you to lose too much weight in such a short time leaves it open to come back just as quickly. Good luck, and if you have any questions feel free to message me.
PS - Big kudos to your FH for being so supportive, that support will make it SO much easier!

Thanks for all the info! I can see how eating clean would be hard since everything these days is processed. I've never heard of Combat either (can you tell I don't work out much?) But I'm going to look into it as well. I realize that instead of complaining about it I just gotta do something about it because 2016 will be here before I know it. Thanks again!

i couldnt agree more. unfortunately people think that if they just go to the gym and do cardio it'll do what they want in terms of losing weight. but the real secret to a healthy WEIGHT is WHAT you eat. and keeping your heart and body healthy is through exercise.
it's actually a lot easier than people think, you just have to be willing to change your eating habits.
eat whole, unprocessed foods as your main diet and cheat when you really feel you want to. and remember, LITE, NON-FAT, etc do not mean healthy! good luck!

I found that keeping track on myfitnesspal.com worked for me. I did it for 2 weeks and it really helped me put things in perspective. I also stopped skipping breakfast and I try to make sure I have protein and healthy fat (like half an avocado/day) which helps keep me full longer. I also only drink water, no soda or fruit juices, and lots of whole grain. Also google pictures of 'plate method' which is a good guideline on the right balance of carbs/protein/veggies. Try to keep healthy snacks on hand (hummus, fresh fruit) so you will be less inclined to reach for unhealthy stuff. The motivation comes once you start seeing results, I don't feel motivated in the begining but it comes after a week or two of eating right.

I know for me I needed someone or something to keep me accountable. I signed up for a bootcamp where they connected wtih us on myfitnesspal so they could see what we were eating. Another option is look into getting a health coach. I know many as I went through the program just for information and loved every second of it. Every person responds differently to diets. It should be a lifestyle change. Just swap out one bad habit for a good one every couple of weeks. Make small changes. My advice would be, start drinking a lot more water!

Thank you all for the information! I do agree also that myfitnesspal is a great tool. It's what I used to use and I decided to download it again last night. Hopefully tracking what I eat and starting to exercise will give me the motivation that I need. Thanks again

Big high five to FH for being so supportive. Since you are a 2016 you have the time to lose the weight and you never know, by starting now come by the time your wedding is here it might be your way of life. Incorporating exercise and watching what you eat really does wonders. I too am doing T25 and love it because it is just 25 minutes. Lol You seem to have a good support system so that is a huge plus! Definitely remove the junk snacks for healthy snacks and that is the first step. Stay positive and stay motivated and keep us posted sweetie!!!

My FH has had weight issues in the past and started working out years ago so he is doing great, but me,I never had a weight issue, and the last year I cant get the last 10 pounds off(I gained a ton of weight when I was pregnant, had issues losing and lost it with weight watchers). So I have struggled and now doing an app like my fitness pal and allowing a cheat meal every weekend, the weight is coming off slow, but its going. I am down about 5, 5 more to go. also treadmill and crunches are a must for me.

I am currently doing Isagenix which is a meal replacement diet consisting of two shakes a day and 'clean' eating at dinner time. The results have been amazing and I am so happy that I found something to jump start my weight loss process.

This! It helped me lose 30 lbs before my wedding. Looking forward to getting back on track now that I'm sure I've pack on a few honeymoon lbs lol
