Re: NWR: Teachers,
Summer school in what district? The same one you teach at for the year?

Re: NWR: Teachers,
most summer schools are handled through western and eastern suffolk boces. if you call them directly, you can prob get a run-down on posted positions. they usually only start to hire 'outside people' in late may after they've given faculty first dibs. rocky point runs their own summer school, and they pay pretty well (i've worked there before). sometimes they hire from outside of the district, so you can put an application in for them too.
good luck!

Re: NWR: Teachers,
I usually hang out all summer -- I might work this year because the wedding expenses are CRAZY but we'll see

Re: NWR: Teachers,
I don't do summer school because I don't want to work mon-fri over the summer. I tutor instead. This way I make my own hours, the pay is excellent and the hours are flexible.

Re: NWR: Teachers,
I normally relax & do nothing (work-wise) all summer. By the end of June I am so wiped out that I need the summer to recharge my batteries. Am I the only one?

Re: NWR: Teachers,
My school is a 12 month school Since the kids are severely disabled. But we have off the last week in June and the last 3 weeks of August so that is nice

Nope!!! I don't work either I totally agree about using the summer to recharge. I like feeling like its a new start each September. I worked my first summer as a teacher with a Grant program and that was it. This summer I plan on sitting out by my pool with the rest of my friends (who are teachers and don't work either ), drinks in hand, and any last prep stuff for my wedding.
