NWR: Teaching Fellow
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
I have not done it, but we have them in my school and I have had student teachers and teaching scholars.
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
I didn't do it, but there are a bunch of Fellows who work at the school where I teach.

Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
Thanks girls. I'm thinking of doing it.....i really want to do elementary ed but I think i'd have an easier time getting a job if i did HS Math
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
I was a Teaching Fellow back when the program paid for your Master's Degree in full...It was a terrible experience working in an understaffed-underfunding 'high needs' school. I honestly wouldn't recommend the program to anyone.
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
the program now allows you to apply for and pick (out of the schools that want to hire you) a job. it just assigns you a borough and subject/grade level. while it encourages you to apply to high needs areas, you pick your job location and can really teach in a brand new small school with a low student-teacher ratio and all the other bells and whistles great schools have if you want to.
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
Martina....I have to tell you that I have heard some crazy stories from people who have done this program....think really hard before you commit to it because it's super difficult and not to mention stressful!
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
No...but I've been a CT like 5 times!
Re: NWR: Teaching Fellow
you would ABSOLUTELY have an easier time getting a math position. But the NYCTF also places el ed teachers (I think) so if that's your passion, do that!
