I work for a real estate attorney and I know tipping is not going to make things move quicker

I didn't tip anyone and I don't think it matters.

I think the title company gets tipped. I remember giving someone like $50, but that was awhile ago. Ask your attorney.

its customary because they do a lot of work to get the title clean, to help fix things if needed at the closing and make sure the pay off is correct. We tipped $100. Our attorney told us to do so

We were told initially we would give $75 to the title company but our attorney told us it was waived last minute.

We closed on our house in December and we did not tip anyone nor did our attorney tell us to. Everything went very smoothly. We were done in less than two hours. Actually the real estate agent for the house gave us a bottle of champagne and a $25 gift card for the movies

Yes we had to tip the lady or man who does the title change.
You can also tip your lawyer, but they already get enough money

We never tipped anyone- they got enough money out of us at the closing!!!!

Some people tip the title company- but it is really unnecessary.

The only tip I have ever heard of and seen (used to do residential closings) was one to the title company closer. Usually $100-200. But this doesn't make the closing go faster, it is just a tip for the title company closer's service.

Oh, and in all of the closings I used to do, I have NEVER been in and out of one in under an hour no matter how organized everyone is. Stuff just takes time, people need to make photocopies, the title co. reviews paperwork, etc.
