NWR: US Post Office Insurance

Has anyone ever gotten insurance on an item they purchased, and the item was damaged in shipment???

I bought a BEAUTIFUL headpiece that I love on Ebay, and the USPS squashed it! It's broken in one place, totally fixable, but it shouldnt be broken.
