NWR: vacationing after marriage... HELP

Original post by Maria5117

Call me crazy and too traditional, but am I the only one who thinks it's not OK for a guy to go away with his friends for a week of drinking and partying without his wife after he's married???? This has become a huge issue for FH and I because he's a fireman and thinks it's OK for him to continue his drunken yearly trips to Ocean City, ski trips, weekends in AC, etc after we're married... Anybody else think this is ridiculous??? I can't imagine leaving my husband home to go away with a bunch of single girls to dance on bars and drink like a fish....What do I do?????? This is gonna be a huge issue for me once we're married...

I think its important for each of you to have things that you do on your own...including vacationing. It would not bother me if FH wanted to spend his own money going away for a trip with his friends...but how is it gonna be fun for him if all his friends are single and trying to pick up women and he's not doing that? If its gonna be fun for him anyway...then, whatever its his money.

I would not want the restriction of not being able to go away without FH so I wouldn't put that restriction on him. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, after all.

Maria, I totally understand what you are saying and while I do agree that being apart is needed for each couple as I mentioned in my post earlier, I don't think going away for a week and getting drunk everyday would ever work with me either.

I can understand how you feel - mine 'laid down the law' that he will still be doing his annual ski trip and trip to notre dame for a football game. HOWEVER... each of these trips is just a weekend. Like this weekend is the notre dame trip - he leaves Friday, comes back Sunday.

The reason these trips annoy me a little is only bc of $$$.

IF we had kids, and if it was for a whole week, I'd probably feel differently. There's just no way, with the amount I work, that I could handle that for a week if there were kids.

I agree with this, I think your second post Maria explains what you're trying to say a little better
