i'm so sick of BC pills! I cant seem to find one that works right for me. I've been on: orthotricyclen; orthocyclen; lo-ovral and now recently Yaz. I'm going to my doctor tomorrow to get off Yaz bcuz although I did like the size B to a C effect it had on me, I can not deal with ALL THE MIGRAINES i've been getting. I know they affect everyone differently but wat B/C has worked for you?

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
I've been on orthocyclen (didn't like at all), trilevlen (which I loved) and then decided to try seasonale. Seasonale is my new favorite! I love only getting my . every 3 months!

I do the Depo Shot......I tried the pill and just couldn't get rid of the Bloating feeling ALL the time.... I also did the patch but heard that was worst for you..... The shot I love!!!
really? i had the worst experience with the depo shot and so did everyone else i know, but everything does effect everyone differently. Even after the 3 months, which is how long the 1 shot will last, i couldnt wait for it to be over but i had problems with my period after that and for MONTHS after that i had the most irregular period, getting it non-stop and other issues.
Not to mention that within a week of the depo shot, none of my clothes fit me. Which was strange since i was working out at the time and eating healthy and couldnt believe that in only a week i got like that. I continued to work out and eat healthy but the weight kept coming on. That is when i gained the most weight ever, and then after a while was i able to lose. Thats when i had to go on a strict exercise routine and diet and lost 35 pounds.
I was on it years ago and bc of my experience with it havent been on any bc since then
Really?! I have to say my weight has stayed the same. Expect when i quit smoking I gain but after a year got back to normal.... I guess this worked for me, cause the pill I gained a lot a weight and couldn't get rid of that boating feeling......
I mean I alway thought you should change up your BC like every so many years, but I like. It's easy!!!
But I feel like I'm the one only use on it LOL

a few years ago when it came out there were alot of complications with it and alot of bad side effects that came along with it. I remember not long after i got the shot, i saw a bunch of bad reviews on it and all the sites were people complaining about it and having bad experiences and there were warnings regarding it. BUT since there were alot of problems they might've updated it and corrected any of the problems they experienced in the past so maybe thats why
you are lucky you didnt gain weight bc 70% of women who have taken it do, here are statistics from a site and other info. Also they advise for young women to be careful when taking it bc it causes bone density that cant be reversed. Another problem i had with depo is that it stopped your period completely which i felt is a normal process that maybe shouldnt be stopped and was afraid of that.
here are facts about depo
Studies released in 2004 show that Depo Provera is associated with a loss of bone density resulting in an increased risk of osteoporosis. The bone loss appears not to be reversed when the woman goes off Depo Provera. Depo is not recommended for long term use and especially not recommended when the young woman is still growing her bones. Women on Depo are advised to exercise and take in plenty of calcium. If you have taken Depo Provera for more than two years, you might want to get a bone density test. (see article on Building Healthy Bones and factsheet on calcium-containing foods )
70% of women using Depo Provera gain weight. Almost half of the women using Depo Provera gain more than 5 pounds after one year of use. Many women gain more than 10 pounds.
ALSO it takes a long time for it to get out of your system, so make sure you stop taking it a long time before you plan to get pregnant, bc it can cause infertility for up to 12 months
The book Contraceptive Technology says: 'It is not possible to discontinue Depo Provera immediately. Weight gain, depression, breast tenderness, allergic reactions, and menstrual irregularities may continue until Depo Provera is cleared from a woman's body, about 6 to 8 months after her last injection. After discontinuing Depo Provera, women may also have a 6 to 12 month delay in return of fertility.'
I dont know if its different now but the biggest issue they had with it is severe mood swings and depression, and i never had a problem with these things but i dealt with that ALOT while i was on depo, i didnt feel like myself. Here is a forum where women talk about their experience on it and what theyve gone through.
I've been taking Ortho Tri Cyclen for about 8 years with no issues.
same here, but my sister cant be on anything everything she has been on has giving her some sort of problem

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
I am actually in your boat, Mady!! I have had NO luck with B/C pills. In fact, i took myself off them a year ago (which i know if stupid) I was depressed, fat, had headaches, crazy mood swings, acne, and had worse cramps then when i started.
I really hope you find the right one. After reading this, I am going to try a new one as well.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
not to upset the yasmine users out there but it went generic so most likely sooner or later you'll have to pay a higher co-payment if you want it
I tried the generic of it and I didn't like it....and I also tried Yaz which I hated

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and loved it. I switched to the Ortho Evra (the patch) and gained almost 20 lbs. in 6 months. Needless to say, I stopped taking it, but I feel like my body has never been the same (this is 4 years ago). Now, believe it or not, I use a diaphragm because the hormones do NOT agree with me!!!

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
I can't take them ever again. In 1996 (yes I am a little older than some of you out here !!! ) I had a pulmonary embolism ....and that was a blood clot that was in my left leg and traveled to my lung. The doctors told my family I had a 5% chance to live ....but low and behold I am here today to talk about it !!!!!!!!! So ladies, I did not write this to scare any of you at all ..... but don't mess with BC pills for any reason what so ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
I'm on Levora, it's a generic of Nordette, I've been on it for about 6 years now and I've been great with it, I switched for about a year and went on Yaz, I was sick with Migraines and actually had a bout with depression, and became allergic to alcohol....ick!!!!!!!I went off it and back to Levora and I've been fine ever since...thankfully, ask your doctor and see what he says, I actually want to see about going off of it in the next few years as I know it can have complications as we get older. Good Luck!

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
I have used estrostep and it was fine. I had no problems at all. Then I stopped taking it for no reason. I'm just lazy and would forget. Lol then when I did go back on I started using Yasmin 28 and that was great. Then I went to Yaz which I HATED!!! Either I would have my period for WEEKS at a time or I wouldn't get it for a couple of months and that drove me crazy cause I kept running out and buying pregnancy tests. LOL so suffice it to say I came of them and didn't start using BC again until a couple of months ago. I went back on Loestrin and I love it. I'm only back on it so I can do the skipping method the ensure I don't have my period for the wedding. Cause without it I would have been due the day before the wedding.

I take orthotricyclin, mostly because I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. I've been on it since I was 15 (for the PCOS) and I've never had any bad side effects. I would love to get the bigger boobs though! I'm seriously lacking. Luckily, FH is an a$$ man

Re: NWR: What kind of B/C are you on?
i know your all going to think i am crazy but i use a natural form of bc. i use the fertility awarness model. it is not rhythm with beads or just keeping track on a calendar. it is several different things into one. basically u track ur ovulation, and use protection when ur fertile or just dont do it during that time. i love it and have been doing it for the last three years. there is a great book that teaches it all called taking charge of your ferlitity. is it on hippie side but works really well. you have to be religious about it, but you will become so in tune with your body it is nuts. i could never take traditonal bc pills the hormones make me crazy and feel like crap all the time. let me know if you have any questiongs.
